Timpson are a really ethical brand. They also give a second chance to former prisoners and actually give back to society, unlike these other greedy corporations

Former prisoners? Would be a spent conviction, wouldn't it. Can't imagine people would declare a stretch on their CV. And would it really matter if they've been in prison or not. It's a shop job, minimum wage. Beggers can't be choosers.

I would be exceptionally hesitant to get any service provided by Timpson for 2 reasons:

    𝟭) I needed a couple of keys duplicated a while ago, but Timpson couldn't do the job they are best associated with. The cloned keys wouldn't open their respective doors, so I promptly returned to Timpson informing them off the problem.

They refused to accept the issue, and suggested it was "user error". The cheek they had to suggest I couldn't unlock a couple of doors.

I demanded to see the manager who declined either a refund or a recutting of the keys.

From that day onwards, I took my services to an independent hardware shop who has been in business for 35 years, and though it's further to travel to get there, he offers key cutting at a 65% discount to that of Timpson, and the service he provides is second to none.

Wish I had known about my not-so-local independent hardware shop years ago.

    𝟮) Not all dry cleaning providers do a good job in cleaning suits. I've used many - some independent, others nationwide located - and I have found the independents clean suits far better (by the removal of stains) than the nationwide stores.

For example, Johnsons the Cleaners are the worst. Even telling them about certain stains, they still remain on the garments, even after two successive rounds of dry cleaning.

Once again, my local dry cleaner is superb. The same suit with the stain was removed. she told me that the larger dry cleaning providers are driven by profitability, not user satisfaction, so they use less cleaning solvent thereby saving costs.

    𝟭) Never use Timpson
    𝟮) Always use your local independent stores, as their level of service outdoes the national stores, and they are cheaper
So go on, support your local economy, and give Timpson the finger.

I've used my local Timpsons a few times (using this very scheme when out of work, and using the paid service when in work).

    No issues whatsoever.

Voted hot for initiative. I remember one branch punched some holes in my belt for a donation to a charity.

But they are quite expensive for alot of their services.

They rely on people not to be terrible? I can’t imagine lying to take advantage of a scheme aimed at helping unemployed people get back into work.

Have used it previously before when I found myself unexpectedly unemployed and things like this made a huge difference. Well done Timpsons. Been back in work now 4 years and loyally use them now and suits etc come back great every time.

Every job I've had to wear a stuffy suit to has been terrible and reflects on a business being extremely old fashioned in all its ways and practises.
The best job I ever had has no dress code, and I wore a shirt and jeans to the interview. I've still got it!

Like Beckham and C Ronaldo, sometimes they were even in just Boxers. Think they enjoyed their t-shirt wearing jobs.

The last person I interviewed turned up in shorts and a t-shirt. Needless to say he didn’t get the job. First impressions count and good for Timpsons to offer this.

Had a woman come about the cleaning job, at a pub, 10 am, asked if she wanted a drink while she waited, she said double Bacardi and coke, drank it too. Unsurprisingly, she didn't get the job. Although she was in jeans and jumper which is fair do's. A bit odd if they were suited and booted.

Lots of jobs (especially office based) require suits.
