Any of these alternative ISPs in Scotland?

Have a look at bidb.uk (better internet dashboard) and see what infrastructure providers are active in your local area.

I ordered this then cancelled after installers didn't show up on agreed date or call/text me to let me know they couldn't make it. Was given the runaround by customer services, there must have been five back and forth calls with no resolution. Without any notice by call/sms/email, installers turned up first thing the next morning and I told them no thanks. Called customer services to let them know not going ahead with it as support seems unreliable and my internet is critical to my work. They tell me they can't immediately cancel it, there's a whole other team they will send my details on to start the cancellation process. I then get a call an hour later saying installers should be with you in the next hour to which I respond they've already been two hours ago and waved away. The cancellation itself must have taken about 6 weeks and I had to cancel the direct debit on my side to make sure they didn't bill me (instructed by them).

Turns out they install the lines themselves but have a very limited exclusivity window so they bombard you with letters through the door during that period. Only about a month later I was able to upgrade BT to the same fibre lines.

    ymmv

Have this and it's been great so far. Also great that it's the same upload speed as well which doesn't seem to be standard for most fttp providers.

FYI the router I received was the Icotera i4882-01 icotera.com/pro…ies

I've not used it as have a mesh network plugged in instead but looks to have decent specifications.

Name alone deserves heat apart from the super price for those who can get it in their locale🌞

As soon as I saw the title this came into my head.....

If they haven't already used it someone needs sacking

Haven’t heard of these guys before. Not building out in our area but heated since prices look pretty similar to the BRSK build going on here.

We used to have Zzoomm before we moved house earlier this year. Rock solid performance. We had the 500mbps package, and we were consistently getting 600+. 2ms pings. Not sure what routers they are using now, but when we first joined them in 2020 their routers were rubbish - but you can use your own router. Highly recommended.

Aahhh you got my hopes up. About to order fibre today from Plusnet, this one looks really good but not available for me!

These prices are crazy good for 12 months compared to the rest (edited)

Damn, sorry man, wish i could get these types of offers as well, stuck with virgin atm.

These prices are brilliant. Virgin are offering around ~40+ (18 months) for most 1gig deals, so comparatively this is brilliant.

Router provided is not great, and lots of problems with the rollout in Hereford :

    1. Frequent outages in HR4 9
    2. Installation issues (digging up gardens, breaking drainage pipes, etc…)

Look up the Zzoomm Hereford group on Facebook.

They cut through my neighbours telephone cable when they did our road and then denied they did it. They had to wait a week for BT to repair it, no apology, no compensation.
They've recently made 50% of their workforce redundant as they are losing money. They probably won't be around much longer, so I'd avoid them.

I've been with them for a few months on a 500mb package, they turned up at lunch time the day after I ordered to install, speed is very consistent and I've had no down time as of yet.

    No complaints so far!
  11. oidarwazeh's avatar
Not for me! Been wonderful, been getting 900-950mbps from our connection via WiFi, so pretty chuffed.

I've had the 1GB package with zzoomm for roughly 4 or 5 months now. Had zero issues with the installation and customer service. I think I had a slight outage for about an hour the day after the install but since then it's been stable and speeds have been consistent. Would recommend if they are available in your area.

These small scale FTTP deals seem to be cropping up quite frequently on HUKD, but the problem is tnat they tend to geographically only cover a few small areas of the country. Where I live, there was no FTTP at all until about 2-3 months ago (no BT Openreach, no Virgin Media - none of the big FTTP players at all, despite the fact that we got both ASDL and FTTC early in their national rollouts).

Until BeFibre took pity on us this year (I signed up and had to wait 9 months more), it was very frustrating seeing almost every other town in my area get FTTP (yes, I tried 5G home broadband, but live at the bottom of a hill that cut off the signal from the 5G mast that's in the centre of town). When BeFibre finally installed my FTTP, it was 15 times faster download and 50 times faster upload (yep, 500 Mbits/sec down and up!) than my FTTC connection for 50p a month more. £25 a month, first 3 months free, free installation (nice Linksys mesh router too) and no price rises during the 2-year contract - beats even this deal.

It's maddening that BT and Virgin charge so much for FTTP and don't cover large chunks of the country (plus Virgin's reliability, especially past midnight, is appalling). (edited)

I've just had them fit this for me the essential 150mb for £20. I get 200mb and it's consistent. They came and fit it weeks before the agreed date, the two blokes were sound and efficient
