Rated at 2 tonne capacity each axle stand, bit misleading, reviews also say the 'magic' hydraulic ram can actually be more hassle than benefit. Would've ordered had they been 4 tonnes per stand but will pass on these.

I've used the 2 ton advanced ones and they are brilliant. Use them for a oil change normally.

Do these lift the car like a jack or are they simply to put under the car once the car is jacked up?

I imagine you'd need a car jack. No way would you have enough leverage to lift it unless you were the hulk
