    That CPU is poor by today's standards, it might be a 'Ryzen 7' but it's Zen+ and only a quad-core, would give that a miss. The IdeaPad 1 is low-end so expect cheap construction, even the 'better' IdeaPad 3 is not that great in terms of construction but the CPU is 12th gen so vastly newer and faster. (edited)

    The 3700u was a great processor when it came out in January 2019 but is really showing its age compared to more recent cpus. The i3 1215u is about 65% faster and would be a better choice in this price range.

    S mode can be disabled tho, so no problem. Seems a very pointless feature from MS

    Would the laptop be able to run steam? Looking to get my child his first laptop but do not want to spend huge amount on a gaming one that he may only use a couple of time? Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏
