You always get people trying to compare 'budget' TVs with something that costs well over double the price. Lots of budget TVs are perfectly adequate for most people and many of the differences between them and higher models are not glaringly obvious and wouldn't necessarily spoil your viewing. As for IPS panels , these are well suited to wall mounting when some seating in the room isn't directly in front of the TV. We have a Nano Cell LG 65" in the lounge wall mounted and a 58" high end Panasonic VA TV and they are both good. Even had a TV repair bloke ( sorting out another TV) comment on how good the picture on the LG is.
Once read a review by a professional and they said if a basic TV is about 95% perfect you'll spend 4x as much trying to get closer to 100%. (edited)

IPS panel. The only advantage is the viewing angles otherwise it has poor contrast and black levels compared to VA. This also being a lower end LG means that this isn’t a good set in general. Only the QNEDs or OLEDs are worth getting with LGs. There are other TVs with a VA panel on the market for a similar price including a Hisense A7 QLED (also VA) and possibly even a TCL 725K at £349 or a 729k at £389 if you need 120Hz or a Panasonic TX58JX800B 58 inch for £349 from Amazon Richer Sounds. Strange voting strikes again, budget set going for 100 more than similar offers that have been around recently

Are any current TVs capable of displaying 3D movies in 3D (not simply decoding to 2D) ? Got various 3D downloads collected over the years for previous 3D LG but now can't view them.

Voted hot but agree with above. I have an OLED it isn't 4k but at nearly 6 years old it holds up brilliant. Will be looking to upgrade soon to a bigger 4k OLED
