5000 BTU is more ideal for smaller rooms or perhaps offices / gaming rooms and such. The window kit here is a must and is included in the package. When pitching it against higher end models, this will be fairly loud, but then again it's much cheaper.

sorted byI've kind of got around this by positioning my single hose unit in the sliding back door so air from outside gets sucked in the back and cold air blows out the front. Pretty much acting like a window AC unit which are common in America. It's like an instant big boost in how quick a room cools down which means much less running costs too. No idea why manufacturers dont just change the design slightly so the intake can have a hose too.

That one was more expensive than this too. So I would give this one a try if I were still there. Would do it here in the new place, if my desks weren't in front of the only window. Just going to have to sweat and have 19 ice creams a day
