5000 BTU is more ideal for smaller rooms or perhaps offices / gaming rooms and such. The window kit here is a must and is included in the package. When pitching it against higher end models, this will be fairly loud, but then again it's much cheaper.

Pretty good if you really are on a tight budget and need to cool off smaller rooms, either with the fan function or the air con. I know... where's the sun at? Hopefully we see it soon!

  • 5000 BTU Air Conditioner

Super Cooling
300m3 of air circulated per hour means super cooling. This unit has air conditioning, dehumidification, ventilation and other functions integrated to keep you cool!

Id try to get a dual hose one. I have a single hose one and it blows so much hot air out of the hose which is great, but since air from within the room is being blown outside something needs to fill the loss of air in the room so air from outside the house gets sucked back in which itself needs cooling again. It's quiet inefficient. Dual hose ones don't suck any air out the room at all since any air it blows out the hot and cold vents is taken from outside in the first place.
I've kind of got around this by positioning my single hose unit in the sliding back door so air from outside gets sucked in the back and cold air blows out the front. Pretty much acting like a window AC unit which are common in America. It's like an instant big boost in how quick a room cools down which means much less running costs too. No idea why manufacturers dont just change the design slightly so the intake can have a hose too.

There are no dual hose ones selling in the UK. Even Europe don't have them

5K BTU is incredibly low. I’d avoid this unless you’re trying to cool the cupboard under the stairs. Don’t get less than a 9k. I got a 9K for this price

Worth holding off until winter now it doesn't look like summer ran away from the UK. You'll be able to get something like a Meaco Cool for around £160 on ebay which is much better.

Yea better to wait now unless there is a mental heat wave in August, as they'll be lots of surplus stock that needs shifting.

I stayed in a Prem Inn recently and they were using one of these to try and cool a whole long corridor of rooms. It was a hopeless task. I have one in my home office and it works fine.

Yeah, they are 100% much better in places like home offices. I had a Homcom 1000btu in my old house in a smallish office. Was actually too much for that space. Also the noise of that particular one right behind was distracting. Could cool the room down pretty quickly and just turn it off, to be fair.

That one was more expensive than this too. So I would give this one a try if I were still there. Would do it here in the new place, if my desks weren't in front of the only window. Just going to have to sweat and have 19 ice creams a day
