I cannot be bothered to look at all the options but if you are an AMEX customer - there is a current £120 off £600 so it might be there is a deal for a slightly different better spec.

Struggling to see the value here, personally.

It's a Surface Laptop, pretty much the purest Windows experience you can have and the closest to a 'Mac for Windows'. On hardware specs alone it doesn't make sense but when you use one you will probably understand why, it's incredibly sleek, well-designed, comfortable and has a great keyboard, touchpad and touchscreen display. If you just want a cheap generic laptop, avoid this as there are faster options.

A++ keyboards for sure, and these machines last for ages. Still rocking a surface pro 3 from 2014, still works like a charm!

Yes they don't get much lighter than this. Microsoft Certified Refurbished are practically brand new. New chassis, new battery, new charger, just referbished mainboard and non-original packaging. Storage might be a bit of a squeeze towards the end of a 2 year course but most collages use Office/Microsoft 365 which gives you free cloud storage. (edited)

I bought one of these and replaced the SSD with a 256gb version for £18 from eBay. It's easy to change.

    Bargain. (edited)

Forgot to say. The larger SSD had a Windows 10 Pro install on it, so it upgraded to Windows 11 Pro as well.

Staggeringly cheap given it’s a 2019 with 10th gen cpu. These are still quite modern with USB-C and Windows 11 compatibility etc. Might be worth updating the title to state it’s a *Laptop 3* specifically? Definitely a big improvement on the earlier generations and absolute bargain at this price

Yes, though 10th gen is a bit behind now, but I am tempted as I use a Surface Laptop 2 and the USB C charging is what I am really after as it's hugely convenient. The 2 was/is Windows 11 compatible. Very nice laptops to use and work with.

Hm, agreed it's a nice laptop, but 10th gen intel is bbaaadddd. Also only 128gb storage.

May as well save another £200 and get an 8th Gen Surface Laptop Mk1 off ebay like I did

The Platinum (Alcantara®) is available at this price with 128GB. These are really nice laptops to do work on with amazing keyboards and best windows trackpad I’ve used. Pretty slow SSDs from what I remember though.

i have the laptop 4 with fabric. It's fine. My issue was more hardware related.. i had 3 replacements before i was happy. First I had the popping noise from speakers. Second the space bar was faulty and now on third - which is good.

Only 13.5" versions available, from what I can see. Shame as have lower spec graphics than the 15".

We got a surface laptop go for my daughter schooling. I took it on an overseas business trip. Lovely laptop - light, good battery, and keyboard mouse pad really smooth. Unless doing anything strenuous would definitely go for another Microsoft laptop next time

    Love surface products, voted hot.

Am I right in thinking though that this won't be as performant as a Ryzen for games?
    plewis00's avatar
    plewis00
It’s got the Iris Plus graphics so it’s better than the basic UHD ones in the older models but still not much cop - the Ryzen integrated graphics aren’t a whole lot faster so you shouldn’t expect to be doing much gaming on either variant. You’d really need the Surface Book or Studio with GPU to make a good go of it.

For the users who do not need a touchscreen , this is a much better deal

On specs alone, yes, it's faster but the 3:2 display on the Surface is miles ahead for colour and contrast too, also the keyboard and touchpad are some of the best on any laptop you can buy, the Dell Inspiron 14's is fairly average - which is normal for mid-tier value consumer laptops. The Surface series are premium laptops that are more in line with your Dell XPS, HP Envy/EliteBooks, etc and you pay more for that privilege.

Check eBay as they are running their 15% off selected sellers offer, you might find something for a similar or better price.
