Any problems with having 16" screen with 1920 x 1200 resolution.

Feel like higher resolution for that screen size would be needed (edited)

Depends what you are doing. I have 2 Dell 24" Ultrasharp monitors with 1920 x 1200 resolution that are very good. There is also an option for 3840 x 2400 resolution display if needed.

Looks like a good price but I would pay the bit extra (£150) for the 16Gb and i7 etc.. 12th gen intel is a nice CPU and the graphics will support light gaming (not sure how good screen will be for games).

OLED is very nice but you are up at £900

    Other things to note..
It is DDR4 ram so a bit behind the times, can't say you would notice anything
HDMI is 1080p 60Hz only, you would probably need USB C adaptor for display port and high resolutions
It is a 16" screen which means in 360 flip mode that a big tablet, so make sure you want a 16" screen (edited)

Apologies if I am being dense and have missed some small print on the Dell site, but what makes you think that there is no Windows license?

It would seem very strange for a company like Dell to supply Windows but without a license to use it. Office, on the other hand, is often provided on a trial basis, typically 30 days.

    Nice laptop.

For you curious gamers out there, no it won't be a good investment for you. The main reason being that the graphics card is an integrated card, which shares memory from the processor. For anyone that likes to multitask like myself, that basically means it will slow down anything else running in the background. What you need is a dedicated graphics card that uses its own supply of memory to run games efficiently, while not being bogged down by other apps in the background.

One option is an eGPU, and with Thunderbolt 4 that does work quite well. The 12th gen CPU is also decent enough.

I have a Zenbook with a 12th gen CPU and use a RTX 3070 in an eGPU box so I can game at an okay level when at my parents. Reason for this is my ZenBook is 14" so quite portable.

As this dell is a 16" laptop you may find a gaming laptop cheaper overall.

Thanks for sharing. I'm looking to get a laptop for work, I'll mainly be doing Microsoft office driven activities. For work, I will have to play a video during a presentation via screen sharing such as Teams or Webex. I'll also play the occasional YouTube.

Sorry for the basic question, would this laptop suffice? I was thinking of adding the extra £150 which upgrades the RAM to 16GB, Intel processor to an i7 and hardrive to 1TB. This would take the total to £700 - is this reasonable? Would there be a better laptop in the market for £700?

    Thank you so much! (edited)
