Seems a good deal for the MacBook Pro around £900 but please be aware that this is the 13 inch M1 from 2020 with 8GB RAM, and not the 14/16 inch M1 Pro/M2 Pro which have 16GB RAM but are much more expensive. Still a decent deal for around the same price as 2020 M1 MacBook Air.

Also need to keep in mind that this requires Costco membership

Below is from Costco site

Features
- Apple-designed M1 chip for a giant leap in CPU, GPU and machine learning performance
- Get more done with up to 20 hours of battery life, the longest ever in a Mac2
- 8-core CPU delivers up to 2.8x faster performance to fly through workflows quicker than ever1
- 8-core GPU with up to 5x faster graphics for graphics-intensive apps and games1

I can't recommend this deal I got this MacBook Pro for 680 pounds back in 2021 from Amazon used like new.

You can’t compare new and used prices. New and unopened always carries a premium. I’ll give some heat OP.

Anyone knows if we can upgrade the RAM on this one to 16 GB after buying it?

None of the M chip computers support this due to the way the technology works.

Should be lower IMO. However, it's an excellent machine and a great laptop for most users. I would look at getting a 16gb ram to future proof.

Future proof will be extra £200

Great machine although it is over 3 years old from the launch. Insane battery life, excellent keyboard and trackpad. I used it for daily task, 8gb ram never be a problem for me.

It gets quite boring here on the 8gb talk! but generally speaking 8gb is fine if your a power user then you wouldn’t be looking at the air in the first place.

if your that worried go and Bhutto a system from apple and test you get easy returns for the first 30 days - nothing lost

    by the way a poweruser

I bought one of these a year ago. And now use it as my main daily machine instead of the hackintosh i built. I do all my coding and work projects on there no bother. 8GB Ram isn’t a problem but i understand why some have their reservations.
Will get years out of this.

Is 8GB enough to run multiple Docker instances? Asking as my other half says it is not enough. Otherwise I am aware that for general usage 8 GB MacBook with M1 or better processor should be good.

Everyone is obsessed with the M1 Air and the M2 Air but this is actually a great machine for this price. I've only heard the fan on the fan once and it's exactly when you'd want a fan (which would have throttled on an air) and technically bar none magsafe and media encoder (could be big for some) all the benefits of the M2 Air. I also find the touchbar actually quite useful and the battery life is amazing. This has become my go to MacBook for round the house or going away over my M1 Pro 14 (size, weight and value). The none binned chip and dual SSD nodes mean base model is decent. (edited)

It certainly is the same one, only problem being that it is out of stock but still just shows on the Currys search page. That being the Silver 256 GB SSD version. The Grey 256 GB version is available for £1079 though.

I have an old 2017 Mac, thinking of upgrading. Saw the new MacBook Air 15.3, looks nice but don’t know whether to go pro.

    Is it better to go for M1 16GB or m2 8GB ??

In my opinion M1 16 GB should be better than M2 8 GB. There is not much performance difference between the processors. But I have read that M2 256GB SSD versions are slower than M1.
