Don't know tbh. I suppose I expected the title to read 'Super Slim'.
Okay here goes:
1) This is half the price, when you factor in the game.
2) The PS3 has a huge back catalog of cheap games. PS4 games will be expensive and thin on the ground for a while.
3) The PS3 game streaming service will be rolled out in 2014 in the US, who knows when we get it and at what cost. Also think about whether the service will be good for you, given broadband download allowance & speed plus whether the experience will be that great...playing Battlefield 3 on a streamed serviced, I think my K/D ratio will suffer.
Plus will all games be available, of course not and I repeat what cost, are they going to allow you to play the entire back catalog for free even if you never owned the PS3 disc version...yeah right. Personally I would rather own my PS3 games than play through the cloud.
4) Games are still be released on PS3.
5) Online gaming will still be free on PS3
I think the PS3 has quite a few years left in it and I would imagine that Sony is only releasing the PS4 now because MS are doing the XB1, if it wasn't for that Sony would probably not release the PS4 until 2014.
These are just my thoughts.

No the PS4 wont play PS3 games. Also this cloud stuff is getting annoying. Might as well talk about pixie dust or unicorns.
Uncharted 3 is currently Free on PS+ as well although it's hefty 3 file download 12GB Single Player, 13GB Cutscenes and 6GB for the Multiplayer (Which is needed as it contains the base files)
Are you are seriously that stupid why would you buy a 500GB PS3 for 1 game? Just get the 12GB for £120. Also GT5 is an awful game so good luck spending £200 on a piece of trash.

Correct me if I'm wrong but you can't play GT5 on a 12GB PS3 without a hard drive expansive because of the massive install. My bro has it and I vaguely remember him saying over 10GB or so and I'm guessing that the 12GB doesn't given you 12GB because of the whole 1MB=1024kb etc...
Also want to point out that this is a hot deal for a new title... Haven't played it yet but its next on my love film list
And I also agree that the slim is better than the super slim... (For me because of access issue for top loading!)

Firstly, to buy a PS3 for what is showing to be one of the highest rated games of this generation may not be such a bad move considering they now have access to 6 years of back catalogue going cheap.

I have to disagree as there are cheaper devices which will do those three things.

But wont do it anywhere near as well. The PS3 is the platform of choice for Netflix and various other apps that offer HD content, and it has the best blu ray player/integration going. Media server interaction etc is also top notch, in addition to having a user upgradable hard drive.
Theres a reason they give blu ray players away for free with new TVs these days. No one buys them.

But aren't you going to play all the other great exclusives the PS3 has to offer, The Last of Us being one of the finest? Because you're otherwise spending £150+ for just a mediocre driving game, although GT6 might be better.

Yup you can upgrade them. I bought a 320GB hard drive for my 12GB PS3 for £28. You'll need a mounting bracket too which costs about £8.
Calm the head dude, did you not consider he has a good enough income to do such a thing?
The super slims are ok, it is just the sliding lid thingy is a bit poor and it is a bit more noisy (disc wise) than the slims. I have both BUT the slim is the better model of that there is no doubt.
The 12gb is only worth getting if you have a spare 2.5 laptop drive lying around, as copperspock says you will need a caddy which is £8-£10.
I bought a 12gb model and replaced the drive from one of my old PS3's which suffered YLOD.
