Just to clarify, there are some moments of joy in amongst all the carnage kids bring

Oh no no.. kids are delight.. I got 4 lol. Just had to put all my Lego technic high up so they can't get it

Have had various kids use our joy cons extensively with no issues. If anything IMHO they rather suit kids with the nature of the small size and flexibility. I don't think its fair to apportion drift to kids either.

Cost tbc.. UPS arrive and pick up the affected controller/console which is decent and the option to have it sent back at discretion of the user at every stage from point it's received is good. Not everyone can find or trust local services for repairs, even though the Internet will show anyone how to fix anything if you can find the right parts to do yourself! Wish I was competent in repairs myself

    Great price for switch controllers!
Stick drift will always be a problem at some point but really easy to repair. Taught myself from watching YouTube videos. The tech in these are so basic it's really easy to do, I've done quite a few for friends and family now.

Nintendo repair service will do the trick

I was told there would be 4 weeks of wait and if you don't have a spare controller, the console is not usable. I got the whole replacement kit from amazon for 8£ I think, that included 2 joysticks, screwdrivers, prying tool and tweezers. Its easier than it seems and plenty guide videos on YouTube. I'm normlly rubbish with this kind of things but it went smoother than I had thought.

That'll be fun to try sometime maybe! Thanks for sharing good that kit comes with two replacement sticks That's a shame you were told you'd need to wait 4 weeks, it had taken less than a week to have a repair confirmed, carried out, and dispatched back to me through UPS. Pretty impressed tbh. I wasn't even quoted any fee, so I wonder if they just accept thumbstick issues as a cost free repair even if out of warranty. That said, a repair may not be a stick replacement, so I wonder if the issue will happen again.

I think that's the result of the class action lawsuit about it I think. I honestly felt so proud of myself for being able to do it haha. I recommend it! (edited)

There was a printer option with UPS but opted for pick up, it may be more recent service in answer to high demand and ongoing issues!Your joycon definitely fall under fair use by the sounds of it at least! They've been run through it You shouldn't have any issue requesting a repair and specifying a UPS pickup, I doubt it's only an option for certain regions like the south west.

Ahh yes, they’ve definitely upgraded their returns process since I last used them just under a year ago. I’ve just gone through and booked the joycon in for repair and opted for UPS pick up.
Let’s hope the rest of the repair process goes without issue, but It’s Nintendo so I won’t hold my breath(flirt)

I might clarify something then.. don't let kids eat food while they play lol. Also 2 of my kids have ADHD and are autistic.. so to be honest might be just my kids causing problems with joycons (edited)

Had to replace the joystick in the boy's Switch Lite, pretty straight forward; assume these would be similar if needed. Fixed the drifting issue

Still worth paying for the repairs if you're not comfortable opening up them yourself? 2 year warranty for Switch didn't cover mine when they finally started drifting

    Hi all
2 year warranty with the UK Nintendo consoles and joycons although Nintendo do not make it easy to contact and arrange returns / repair.
Contact customer services by phone or chat if this is working and arrange warranty repairs or replacements.
both my joycons are awaiting to be repaired under terms of 24 Month warranty.
Certainly would not by these Again probably go with 3rd party but that is my opinion and others will disagree

Nintendo facing multiple lawsuits regarding the consoles build and design issues, drifting issue but still get away with this.

incredibly Nintendo acknowledges this and does nothing and continue to sell the at inflated prices especially for replacement joy cons etc

Some 3 rd party joy cons seem to be better quality than the originals!!!

Anyone having issues with various Nintendo console and joycons should definitely check warranty status with Nintendo
    Hope this helps

UPS came to pick your package up? That’s news to me.
Since owning a launch Switch, every time I’ve sent joycons back to Nintendo, it’s been a right hassle. They expect you to send in copies of the receipts and print of the shipping label, all assuming the customer to have access to either a photocopier or printer(annoyed)

Unfortunately I’ve got another joycon to send back, this time the shoulder button isn’t working on my right joycon! - luckily I can now pop into my work and use the printer there, which wasn’t possible during lockdown.

They are strong and shouldn't break unless kids are handling them. Should be fine without it but at your own risk to be honest

Search online for joycon drift and Nintendo customer service replacement experiences, as well as this thread. The drift is very common, however a new DIY fix involving just a small cardboard insert has been recommended..

But have a quick search on those topics. That should hopefully inform your decision.
