I bought this a year ago in blue when in was on offer (same price, so heat added !!) .... but, it's plastic and feels plasticky and cheap in the hand....
Save your pennies and buy a rOtring 600.Much better. Feels like a premium mechanical pencil.

Is this designed for people in specific fields like architects or is it simply a good mechanical pencil?

It’s a plastic-barrel version of their classic all-metal 600 drafting pencil. Everything apart from the barrel is the same (internals, knurled grip…) So this 500 is less expensive and also lighter than the 600, and because the knurled grip is now more weighty relative to the barrel, some people say it’s more controllable for precise linework.
Either work fine as a “normal” pencil, of course - but the ergonomics and/or the styling aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. They are superbly made and something of an iconic design. I really like the look of mine but they aren’t my fave for everyday writing. But other people swear by them. (edited)

I don't know much about mechanical pencils, but have enjoyed using these Rotring pencils at only £18.99 for 12 pencils.

If you like mech pencils, try a Kuru Toga , as it rotates the pencil lead as you write

I liked this in theory but in practice, less so. I rarely use it. Hard to beat a Pentel P205 imho.

    Rotring yes but metal only.

Nice. Other colours apart from black also reduced. Blue is £8.99 and green is £9.49.
