Sounds like a deal to me. Everywhere else it's around £599 for 55 in.

    That’s out of date information.
    UMC no longer exists.
The Japanese Sharp Corporation and Taiwan’s Foxconn got the company back in 2019.
All new TVs are Sharp Corporation products using Sharp panels (panels made at various Sharp/Foxconn/Panda factories in Asia) and assembled in Sharp’s Polish factory.

You can read about it here:
    techno--senior-com.translate.goog/202…=sc

Even when it was UMC, the panels were produced by the major Taiwanese and Korean suppliers such as Acer and Samsung.
And UMC was actually a fairly solid budget brand. (edited)

No, it’s a genuine Sharp product. Vestel only have the Sharp brand license for appliances such as fridge freezers and washing machines, which is why the appliances website is separate with ‘copyright Vestel’ at the bottom. Vestel aren’t as bad as people keep saying anyway. (edited)

Nice design, speakers and a relatively bright (500 nits) picture on this for the price.

HDMI 2.1 ports.... 60hz panel though, so no actual 2.1 features.

No idea about the actual performance of it though. If it were £50 cheaper I'd chance it. (edited)

There are reviews on YouTube. It’s a good TV and worth about £399 in 55”.
It was £419 on Prime Day. Unlikely it will fall below £400 because it’s a fairly premium model.

The only English language review is from TV Calibration With Darko, a respected Croatian (I think) reviewer. The rest are from Eastern Europe where Sharp is popular. Searching “Sharp EQ6/7 TV” brings them up.

Definitely a TV to keep an eye on for anyone who still likes Japanese tech. (edited)
