WHAT TYPE OF HEADLIGHTS IS THE KIT FOR?

The Turtle Wax Headlight Lens Restorer is recommended for removal and restoration of oxidization from automotive clear plastic headlight and rear light lenses, or for removing scratches from clear plexiglass, plastic windows or other translucent plastics.

Results that increase CLARITY, BRIGHTNESS and VISIBILITY to improve on the road safety!

HOW TO USE TURTLE WAX HEADLIGHT LENS RESTORER

STEP 1
Rub a small amount of the clarifying compound onto one of your lenses with a clean microfiber cloth to determine the level of headlight restoration needed. If there is severe oxidation that requires more effort to remove, follow the next steps. Otherwise, skip to Step 4.

STEP 2
Wipe oxidation clearly from both lenses with sanding pad #1, using water as a lubricating agent. You will soon notice the yellowing and oxidation rinsing off the surface of your headlights. Flip over your sanding pad to the side labeled #2 and repeat sanding, continuing to use water as a lubricant to wipe off any remaining oxidation from your headlights.

STEP 3
After both headlights have been wiped clean, buff the clarifying compound into the lenses with a microfiber cloth for maximum clarity. Dry your headlights completely.

STEP 4
Apply the acrylic clear coat sealing wipe in an even layer to protect your headlights from further oxidation, moving quickly before product begins to cure.

Not sure I like the idea of sanding my headlights down.... won't it make the plastic scuffed and foggy looking? any thoughts on this?

You use an extremely fine grit sandpaper. You would then polish them using a drill adapter disc with a polishing pad on it. YouTube is your best friend with stuff like this, searching for "wet sanding and polishing headlights" rather than the actual brands of the restore kits. (edited)

might not be as effective as this kit but in the past I tried basic toothpaste (not the gel one) and also pink stuff paste, with a microfibre cloth - the yellow dullness on the lights was all gone

Many years ago, my contact lens consultant used a weak solution of Brasso in water to remove light scratches in hard contact lenses. Any light abrasive will do the job, whether it's branded or not.

Many years ago I used a kit using a drill (don't know whether it was Holts), it worked but found it very messy. Now I just use Autosol metal polish and a cloth which works well. I think once you start this process you need to do it every year or so because the uv protection is removed from the surface. With the kit I used with a drill it came with some uv protection cream but it didn't seem particularly effective. (edited)

Not a criticism as I've not used this but possibly better to pay a bit more and get the Holt's kit as it comes with the drill attachment disc pad to make the job a bit easier.

The actual Turtle Wax polish/cleaner is pretty good and so far has lasted the longest on my MR2 (previously used Megs Ultimate Compound). I used it with a drill and foam polishing pad, finished with microfibre cloth.52336586-4I8lJ.jpg

If done properly sanding them will be fine as you polish the fine scratches away, but do agree using a drill attachment is much easier and quicker

    Toothpaste is cheaper.

I used the Holts kit with drill adaptor. You will become an expert by the time you move on to the second headlight. Although the velcro backing on the polishing pad does come away from the backing after a few uses.
The Turtle wax kit seems simple to use, and if you are concerned about the headlights passing the MOT then for £7.20 this is good value.

I've used the 3M one before, similar to the Holtz one with a drill attachment. Worked really well and made a big difference with how bright the lights were.

My car failed last week due to foggy headlights. £5 turtle wax cleaner from Amazon and they passed. Took a lot of elbow grease.
