sorted byThats how it works on windows laptops anyway...not sure about chromebooks
(i.e. We' ve got a few low end Asus Vivobooks at home.....this would physically fit in the usb c port ...but the laptops dont support DP Alt mode at all....so we 'd never a picture on an external monitor /or tv)
Sometimes its not clear on the specs whether devices support DP Alt mode or not ....but if it doesnt say I normally assume the answers no....
This is what I use. Minimal difference except the price.
