Received this email from a Noel Quinn

Greetings from N. Quinn,

I am Mr. Noel Quinn, a Banker and credit system programmer(HSBC bank). I
saw your email address while browsing through the bank DTC Screen in my

believe we should use every opportunity to know each other better.
However, I am contacting you for obvious reason which you will
understand.

I am sending this mail just to know if this email address is OK, reply
me back so that I will send more details to you. I have a very important
thing to discuss with you, I look forward to receiving your response ASAP.

It's a scam, you get in contact with him and he'll start saying how you're due for a refund. He'll then make it look like you've accidentally been refunded too much and that he'll lose his job, his house will get repossessed, his wife will leave him, his dog will die etc. unless you pay him back this 'over-payment'

Of course that initial refund will have never actually existed and you've just sent him loads of money.

    Replying to

These scams are really common now and rely on people with no morals taking advantage of people with no common sense.
    Fixed it for you

Might work well as a scam that, “we’ve been watching your progress on football manager over the years and think you might be a good fit for our club”

Thanks for that, wasting a minute of your time, there was me thinking it was genuine, a nice banker called Noel Quinn reaching out to me for friendship, and all the time it was a scam!

And George Daniels and David Lloyd Packer, shame on you.

I have been threatened with deportation for not paying my taxes. I got a text message from John Rogers at HMRC, so it must be true.

I had a phone call to the same effect.

They terminated the call on me when before I could say anything as it caught me off guard and I just started laughing too much at them.

Anyone else received an email from this banker?

Says he has an important thing to discuss with me. I wonder what it is?

He’ll almostcertainly be stranded, have a sick relative, have had his home ransacked and need some cash to get back on his feet!

Saw your email and decided to use it.

Good to see HSBC taking GDPR seriously.

Has anyone ever played about with this scammers for a while and what was the outcome? (edited)
