Report 'sorry for unusually high call volumes' recorded messages

Moneysavingexpert is doing a survey of the firms using that sort of service, as there is a potential they could be using it so you get off the phone. Apparently they can be reported.

Sick of these messages...definitely being used to put off callers or to use as an excuse for the long wait times (and shoddy service).

It's a hangover from covid times where firms realised how to what extent they can mug paying customers off.

Tbf, virgin media have been using these messages for a decade

Great broadband and prices (if you haggle every year) but their customer service is up there with talktalk

My bbc tax is nearly as much as my vm bill these days (edited)

I just keep waiting anyway. The ones that are the worst are those that play the 'long waiting time message' a few times then HANG UP on you. (edited)

I wouldn't trust it, MSE is as bad as anyone for harvesting data etc.

How are they harvesting data when no personal details are required? I'll give my experiences of virgin media at any opportunity as their staff can't even speak basic English
