Personally I use AdBlock. I did mess with PiHole, but I found AdBlock does the job. Although sadly; a lot of content I watch now has the presenters doing a cheesy segue to give "a word from our sponsor" so it's difficult to completely eliminate the ads!

Phone or Pc. Pc just use Brave and it’s ad blocker. Works on iPad too. Dont watch on phones.
Depends on the browser you use, use uBlock Origin extension.
VPN "trick" is no more complicated than setting location as Albania or Moldova or Myanmar.
Or use browsers with integral adblock (e.g. Opera, Brave) or browser + Ublock Origin addon/extension.
