Windows 11 experts - How do I put mail desktop shortcut on windows 11

This has been driving me crazy all morning
how do you create a desktop shortcut to the windows MAIL app in windows 11

the right click, add to desktop option does not seem to be possible with this

    Start menu > All Apps > Mail - Drag the icon onto the desktop

    Doesn't work until you expand all apps.

    I was setting up a laptop for an elderly relative who wants an easy method to access the frequently used programs such as chrome, word, etc - it was easy to create the shortcuts for those programs but not for microsoft mail

    I spent ages on google, youtube etc trying to find the solution to this.

    20 minutes after posting on this website, you provided a solution to my problem.

    I have tried your method and it worked perfectly. - thankyou so much for your help.
