sorted byBut then you're stuck with the terrible Playstation controller.
Surprised at Zelda but not Mario (just yet!). I think they want players to embrace Joy-Con with Odyssey (its much easier to spin Cappy etc) in the hope future software does the same. If they do release a Mario Pro-Controller I think (and hope) it is going to be generic Mario instead of tied to a release. I know Mario Kart was re-released and it'd be perfect for that but they probably think its a bit too late to go back and revisit that title with a Mario Kart Pro-Controller.
Just found it

What's wrong with the dpad? :/
It doesn't register properly. Finds diagonal directions difficult. Makes some games like Celeste rather tricky to play.

I’ve been looking at this one for a while wondering whether to go this route or the Pro
Magic-NS adapter
I know.... It's been a shocking seller!
Yeah with them both being huge releases for the console , they knew it would sell well so very surprised they didn't have more accessories relating to them. Really hope we get a Pokémon version somewhere down the road , a nice yellow Pikkachu one would be pretty sweet
Obviously arent 'needed', but i have the Xenoblades one and the joycons dont even get touched anymore
Same as I had no issues at all with the Joy-Cons in the grip, was surprisingly comfortable but after grabbing this (luckily found it in Toys R Us for £39.99) i've not used the grip since.
I would be interested in going this route, what brand and where from? Or do you have a link for the one you bought?
What stick is this ? Does it pair Bluetooth ? And all controls works
The main issue was sometimes on a press of up for example you'd also get left or right. The changes make that less likely to happen and slightly alter the feel of the Dpad.
So Dpad changes help prevent you from pressing two inputs at the same time. It doesn't solve the issues 100% so I'd call it a refinement of the original design rather than a complete fix of the issues. The easiest way would be to go into Test Controller Buttons in the Test Input Devices menu and see if you get any rogue button presses when using it. I.e if you press Up do you sometimes get Left or Right etc.
Personally I have an original release date Pro Controller and don't get any issues. I actually prefer the Pro Controller in size, weight, feel to my Xbox and PS4 controllers. I will say that my use of the Dpad is limited and I don't have huge thumbs which I'm sure is part of the issue for some.
I suspect we will see the change in other versions of the Pro Controller but it won't be until Nintendo run out of the original parts. (edited)
There’s a wired Zelda one
I have no idea about this dpad thing.
My Splatoon one is fab
You do have the problem, everyone has the problem mate. It's a design flaw not a fault.
A simple test is to roll your thumb left and right fast on the Switch menu icons, the highlighted icon will go up to the user select or down to the settings bar even though you're rolling left to right.
You won't notice it if you peck at each individual direction.
Nope, I've got the Xenoblade version. No fix.
Wasn't there some speculation that some of the Xenoblade versions don't have the redesigned Dpad? Unfortunately the only way to tell is to disassemble it. There are a few videos showing the differences although like I say it isn't a "fix" its a refinement that doesn't 100% solve the issue. (edited)
I've heard something along these lines but it's so hard to get any firm info when people are biased towards Nintendo. Only fix i've heard which works is the tape fix, which I haven't done to mine yet but may be worth searching for if anyone reading this is comfortable with opening theirs up.
Not sure it has much to do with brand bias, its more that fact it is a subtle change and people who peck won't even notice the issue.
I wouldn't be shocked in this age of 3D printers that fix kits might be available with replacement Dpad units.
I've currently got Left Joy-Con issues, have to keep my Pro Controller in one piece until that is sorted.
I got this one and it came with the latest firmware already on it.

I've played Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart and Rocket League. The hat throw on Odyssey using the motion on the PS4 controller works perfectly. I was sceptical before but was impressed.
tumble hopefully.
£50 is still too much for me.
