About this deal
This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:
£165 after sign up voucher. Fully expecting this to get cold as it’s £165 for a waterproof jacket and a lot of people are happy with their £16.50 trespass jacket, but it may help someone. I’ve had this jacket for a few months now and it’s just come back into stock. For the price it’s literally the cheapest you can buy a medium gore-tex pro jacket. If you need a very breathable and lightweight shell that will last a while you can do much worse...

You’re partly right, but you’d be very surprised what the raw materials cost, not to mention the license to use Gore-Tex and most of all the unusual and difficult manufacturing process required to tape the fabric together in articulated configurations.
It’s not all snake oil and markup, but some is.
Or is this just the top end of what people should be aiming to get?
Never even waterproofed a my old worn out Berghaus jacket last time, and was probably £50 on sale. So not sure about suddenly spending £100 more on one, gore-tex or not.
i guess some know and some dont about what the difference actually means, between 2, 2.5, and 3Layer and then having or not having gore-tex. (and pockets, pockets is always nice)

As a much cheaper alternative?
I mean i dont intend to pick wet days to go hiking, but generally i guess i would be aiming for general UK usage, see the super wet weather today for example. (edited)
It's not just a licence with Gore-Tex. Unlike most other fabrics which companies can just buy and make clothes from, every product made using Gore-Tex is rigourously tested and approved by Gore, so you can be fairly confident that any Gore-Tex product is up to it.
Absolutely. Makes a mockery of what this site is supposed to be about.
