That's not a hiking boot, it's a lightweight plastic trainer.

I always check first thing the material.
You are right, they are more for parks walk with kid or dog.
Still a good price for comfy trainers.

Ugly, and Merrells are not what they once were.

Not much good for the mud surely with all those holes. Since when does walking the dog not involve muddy paths...

Well, not ideal for the mud or snow but great all-around.

Great price for what they deliver anyway.

Until April they are useless. But during spring and summer months I only ever use these trainers to walk the dog, instead of wellies. Sometimes good to buy them out of season when they are cheaper.

I bought the Merrell Men's Moab 2 GTX from Amazon 2 weeks ago for £51.73 which are Gore-tex. These ones look weird in comparison also:

A lot of hikers swear by trail shoes even when scrambling up hills. They feel the more flexible shoe is better for them,

Also Goretex on a trail shoe is pretty pointless as when the water goes in over the top it cannot get out. So better not to have Goretex so the water can escape and the shoes dry quicker.
