Not as good a discount as you could get previous years for modern warfare and cold war but still a good discount over UK pricing (£60)

Step 1 connect to Russian VPN

Step 2 set up Russian battle.net account (a UK account will not work)

Step 3 purchase Vanguard - I could not directly use my Monzo as in previous years so had to pay via PayPal and have that funded from Monzo. Makes no difference to cost but just an extra layer of faff.

Step 4 disconnect VPN and connect to battle net client - game is 100% identical to UK version.

For context Modern Warfare was £24.55 and Cold War was £28.25 at launch via same method. £37.63 isn't great but it's still a decent discount.

I believe it only works if your account location was set to Russia when created. Make a new account or pay UK pricing are the options I think.

Console pricing is a joke, I managed to snag a PS5 at near launch and never use it because I'm not absolutely minted to be able to spend £300 for about 4 games

Did this for MW and cold war but this to expensive for the risk. I'll wait till this is about £25, I wont play it much anyway due to warzone.

Looks like it won't work. It mentions "some currencies" aren't allowed to gift to users who use a different currency. Betting that's all the cheaper ones it would be worth doing.

Just for people's information, I did this last year for cold war but I'm not able to use the same Russian account this year. A few days before the game launched I got an email saying that my account has been active in the UK for a year or something, so they're switching my account automatically to be provided by Blizzard UK or something. I'm not sure why that is, but yeah, basically can't use the same account in consecutive years to do this

It’s the reason I was drawn to Xbox over PS5 purely for game pass.

Weird, I did get a similar sounding email that my services and games would be provided by Activision Blizzard UK after 31 December 2021 but nothing specifically stating that my account has been active in the UK for some time. I doubt it's anything to worry about or would stop you from using the VPN method - have you not tried since to buy Vanguard using the same method?

I'm planning to buy it in the next few days so I guess I'll let you know? My account has both Cold War and MW19 using this method. (edited)

Everyone got an email saying there was a change of contracting entity to Blizzard UK - that's not about anything you've done though. Just a change in their company structure that they are obliged to inform you of.

But you will lose your progress when wanting to play warzone as you would need a Russian phone number to authenticate your warzone game.

Your warzone progress is linked to your Activision account, this is the battle.net/bli…ard account. No need for a Russian phone number as you're not making a Russian Activision account.

same I paid £33 for cold war which is a fair price and won't pay more than that for this. Some poor spawn locations, difficulties and delays in the parties on PC have been enough to make myself not bother in all likelyhood (edited)

Argentina (ARS) is also £30 but doesn't need any tax number. Issue I have is that Blizzard keep reverting my purchase via Revolut or Monzo, let me know if you mange!

Pay via PayPal. You can have the payment go through PayPal to charge your revolut or monzo, the cost and currency is identical but it doesn't get bounced.

That's where Blizzard seem to catch on. They've disabled PayPal as an option for Argentina + Brazil but it's available for Russia

I can confirm I have paid around £37 on the Russian site using vpn, had to use virtual revolute card setup as payment source in PayPal. It works

Yeah I did try to buy Vanguard using this same method, the issue is that since I received that email my battle.net store has changed and all of the pricings are now in Euros and not Rubles, I really have no idea why But it's like €60 or something now so it effectively locks me out of the deal without creating another account, which can be a pain because of the way Activision links the accounts

That’s very weird - they must have caught on.

I did my brother’s last night on an account he’s been using a while and bought via PayPal without a hitch though and I’m planning to do this myself soon.

So do I create a Russian battle net account, purchase the game on VPN. Switch back to uk connection and load the game as normal? I’m assuming I log in with activision account but I’ve currently got that linked with a different activision account from the uk.
