Never tried with PC games, but my experience with this headset has been mind blowing. I play "In Death Unchained" almost every night and have great chat experiences using "Big Screen". I am 64 and had stopped playing games several years ago as they all felt the same. This headset has been one of the great technological experiences in my life and I am glad I did not miss out on it.
Overruled
I’ve used the Vive plus have CV1, dk2 and Quest 2. I’d say fantastic value for money. Slighter wider field of view. Controllers are good but I can notice fresnels rings plus image isn’t as vibrant but that’s to be expected verses an oled panel. No regrets as untethered works well and pc link is seamless. I’d be tempted now to wait until next version but if got mine for £177 new (128GB) so no brainer at the time.
my brother has one for his kids (5 & 10) and they're mad about it
Copy and pasted my reply from a previous thread……
I too wear glasses and got fed up using them as they would constantly hit the eye viewer and caused uncomfortable pressure points around my eyes and ears.
I ended up purchasing the 4 piece (2 stay attached to the eye viewer and 2 are held in place by magnets) magnetic lenses from AliExpress for under £20.00 and they only took 10 days to get here.
They are absolutely fabulous as I can just pop out the prescription glasses (held by magnets) for when others play.
Was looking at getting it from UK sellers at first but couldn’t stomach £50 for my simple -1.50 prescription.
Not sure if we can share AliExpless links, search Anti blue light glasses oculus quest 2 and the seller is Rcvlgo Store.
Also be warned……AliExpress have cheap accessories for the quest, it’s a deep rabbit hole to fall into.
I thought it was awful. It was blurred no matter what I tried and it crashed often. Having to have a Facebook account was also a pain as I don't want one and never want one.
I sent mine back and deleted the Facebook account.
The service and support direct from Oculus was really good so I wouldn't be too concerned about buying from elsewhere.
No doubt you’re using an underpowered pc or you might need glasses I’m afraid mate! Quest 2 is pretty sharp and never had issues with crashing
I use it regularly with the via pc link facility. PC games are epic. Not quite a vibrant as oculus CV1 oled headset but for the money the quest 2 is fantastic. Sticking with Intel seems to pay off too as apparently AMD have had driver issues with VR. Half Life Alyx is highly recommended on steam.
Yeah needed prescription inserts for mine. Shame oculus backstepped from interchangeable lenses after dk2. (edited)
Sounds like you either didn't have it set up on your face properly (very easy to do, it takes time to really find the sweet spot at first) or you are just someone that doesn't get on the VR.
I've played Half Life Alyx to completion on a much less powerful laptop than yours and it was fine. Small details can be blurry and hard to focus on, but the visuals are absolutely spot on for everything else.
To each their own at the end of the day. It's a shame you didnt get on with it, as its amazing kit.
Worth it the money even more if u don't have a permorming pc
It's possible but I really don't trust social media, and I think facebook have shown themselves not to be trustworthy. Last I checked using a pseudonym was technically against the ToS of facebook. Most likely people will be fine but I'm holding out for alternatives to improve or see how psvr2 performs. Even with a burner I reckon they have the potential to know a lot about you if you wish to ever play with others. I recognise that others are likely to be less concerned, but I think we give too much to few companies.
If others can't relate then it does seem like a nice product at a decent price for what it is. However Meta did originally state that the facebook account requirement wouldn't be a thing and I do think people are lax about their privacy including myself. To some extent it is somewhat unrealistic to fully cut yourself off when everyone is increasingly connected.
They're planning on getting rid of the personal FB account requirement. Apparently 'soon'.

Also if anyone needs help with referral info, send me a message
Judging by this thread, if yours is the same then maybe the lenses aren’t far enough apart. Weird question but did you try just looking through one eye? I have the psvr and the cv1 and the quest 2 is miles apart, really sharp and I can read text easily.
You didn’t forget to take off the lens protectors did you?
thank you, Judge Mental
That could be it! It makes a big difference adjusting and I think they should make them able to go wider
I havent upgraded my quest 1 because of this. Its all very well people being dismissive but if your pupillary distance doesnt fit within the presets its perfectly possible you will find it blurry or even worse get quite severe headaches. Most people will be fine but that doesnt change the fact a few are not. Im quite impatient for the next model 😁
could somebody send me a code please? (and some instructions on how to add it )
CAN'T ACCEPT REFERRAL
This Facebook account has already been used to activate a Quest 2
wish is known about this before I just activated my account (edited)
Yes, I stand on the exact same spot during the course of the exercise. The only exceptions to this are Thrill of the fight where a little more space might be needed, but you can still get away with standing still, and Hit Stream where you have to move in a 360 degree direction but you can do this from one central spot. Obviously you need space ahead of you so you can throw punches without hitting walls etc!
Other games that I didn't list might require more space though, DYOR.
PSVR2 will have considerably better specs, though it will be wired unlike the Q2. The next Meta headset is going to be 'premium', so it'll cost a lot more. The Quest 3 is coming after that and could be a good bit away.
The Q2 is still a great choice for an all-round PCVR headset (not to mention standalone).
You link a post from toxic reddit started from 2 years ago lol (edited)
Sorry for the delay. There are a few places that make them. The oculus recommended (via website) probably best but US import. Will look at some other options too but came across this also and looks interesting hackaday.com/2022/05/26/its-easy-to-mod-your-oculus-vr-headset-with-prescription-lenses/
I’d avoid using glasses with headset as it found it a nightmare and uncomfortable plus the glasses specific spacer caused more of the goggle eye effect so less immersion. Plus very easy to scratch the Oculus lenses as they are soft. (edited)
No for Sony you'll also need a PS5 and the new Meta VR headset is aimed at business not gaming and will be far more expensive.
haha fixed, cheers

So like 1/3 off then!? How much you wanting?
That's cos 24 months = 2 years. The extra value comes in after 24 months if JL are offering extra warranty on top of that (a common JL practice). After 12 months has elapsed, then responsibility for warranty claim correctly became Oculus' problem. Not JL.
128GB is plenty I found. The largest best games only come from PC installed versions. All others aren't massive when the Oculus installed versions are used. Trust me, I own just about every game going, both versions.
Exactly the same. They haven't starting making meta branded ones as far as I found. They simply stopped selling 64GB versions and released a 256GB version.
They rebranded from Facebook to meta. Nothing else, still called Oculus. (edited)
To each their own mate I wish id had such a positive experience myself.
I don't need glasses (They are tested every 6 months at work). Used two headsets and have a 3080 so I'd say I'm set thanks.
I'm not the only one who found this, far from it...

That's my point. The deal title and JL's site suggest that 24 months is a value add but it's exactly the same as you would get from Argos, Currys etc. JL are not offering any additional warranty. (edited)
