Ornstein is much more informative and ITK Romano just states the obvious- Great deal! It kept refreshing and trying to put me on the more expensive annual deal (think it said £40.00 a year) but if you click sign up fast enough it sticks with the £9.99

Any Athletic deal seems to get bogged down with talk of transfer news but that isn't really their prority. Their unique selling point is their anti click bait articles about football tactics. They are almost click repellent if that isn't your thing.

TY - I've been a subscriber to the Athletic for 4 years now, always find a deal each year. My current £1 pm subscription expires next week, I've just renewed with this deal for another 12 months, thanks. FYI - I alternate my subscriptions between 2 email addresses each year, which works fine for me. For those on the fence with subscribing, I think it is an excellent site with some top quality journalists, it's my go to app each morning (used to be the Guardian).
One of the main reasons I like the Athletic is because the comment sections aren’t filled with the same levels of pathetic adult babies making the same old, tired jokes and trolling comments online. The BBC comment sections are just a joke nowadays. The Athletic filters out a lot of the a-holes and allows at least some room for actual discussion
great deal, i rejoined a couple weeks ago at £17.99 for the year and thought that was a decent offer. 83p a month is an absolute no brainer if you're even remotely into sports
surprised anyone pays for this when so much information is available online for free, and so much of this is made up "rumours"Could you provide a recent example of an Athletic article based on rumours?
I think this is worth it just to get their ad free podcasts. I also think their club specific journalism is very good. (edited)
As journalism goes, the Athletic are pretty good. The only way you’re seeing this as a bad deal is if you’re happy with the free/rubbish click bait ‘articles’

Me too. Around £1 a month for some great long form articles. Some really good podcasts and the discussion comments after games are actually not full of morons

Pay £1 a month for the second year in a row and it's a bargain. Top journalists with actual news and insight.
Just to counter the general opinion, I don't think it's worth it. I read the odd article but i hardly ever think that was good/interesting. So not something I'd even pay a pound for.

Not open to existing subscriptions. Mine runs out in September with renewal of £59.99. Whilst I like it, I can't justify £59.99, especially in current climate. Easy thing to cut back on.- Great deal it’s my favourite app and my previous deal had ran out so thanks man
I turned off autorenew and my sub expired last week - this week I getting different offers.. initially £40+, then £16py now £25py... The £9.99 offer here does not activate for me.
