I thought I'd ask as some of you will be familiar with the topic no doubt. I wanted to do a PL-900 but more importantly teach myself the Power BI product.
What's the best way of doing that? And more importantly how to gain access to the platform without having to pay (much)?

If you know how to use VPN my advice create One UK account normally then go on VPN create TURKISH account on Udemy, now fun part begins:

    1. Switch on your VPN (Turkey) then find the course you want.
    2. When gone to checkout , press GIFT to ; your UK account name
    3. Enjoy learning on UK account from your gift course

before you ask why don't study on turkey one ? because they will 'catch up' on you , sooner or later that means you could log in on that turkey account later without VPN and learn for a day but I can assure you (my mate experience) they will just block you and lose all courses .

When you 'gift' course to your UK Account they can't do nothing because purchase been 'done in TURKEY ' you can GIFT it to ANYONE YOU WANT , and that's it :D:D enjoy !!

Most of the platforms (online study) will have gifting option enjoy and good luck !!

I'm guessing you want some basic courses to start off . (edited)

Is this enough to pass the exam or is extra self study required?

The virtual training sucks in my opinion... I normally just join and leave the laptop running. Yiu can find very good training videos on udemy or cbt nuggets.

I hate Azure so much. If you have a choice, choose AWS.

These free training days are on pretty much constantly, usually at least once a month.

There's often other fundamentals / basic courses on offer too

The AZ900 online exam is tripe, for one you have to use the controversial proctoring software Pearson OnVue, during the actual exam you will submit full control of your PC over to some remote admin based in some far flung part of the world, for me they halted my exam while they adjusted my webcam settings in my own PC until they were satisfied, causing me to lose exam time and flow. Then the software crashed so I had to book again. The actual AZ900 exam is a pointless spot test on pricing & marketing blarb. The exam is overly american jargonised, and you'll be left feeling very uncertain due to the vagueness of the statements, the too similar possible reponses, and you will feel rushed. I felt the AZ900 exam was an exercise in forcing you into exploring Microsoft Cloud Pricing options with a vague and confused pointer into how your fees can dramatically increase is you botch your VM setup. If I could suggest anything to a newcomer, that would be just to search for free Azure credits and dive in creating your own Ubuntu machine then having a mess about using SSH or Powershell or whatever works for you. I didn't feel the AZ900 was of benefit and that I wasted my own time trying to remember pricings which will quickly leave your thoughts after, and you'll be better with a printed sheet of it. Just my 2cents.

Any Azure AZ-9XX exam are what we call Sale Pitch exams. All none technical so no good alone if you want to get a decent cloud role with Azure.

Never had an problem with proctoring software Pearson OnVue when doing exams from home. (edited)

Question, I’ve got aws practitioner and azure would be good. Anyone know if there it’s relatively similar knowledge wise?

I think we need to see this for what it is - training on a product. It isn’t training on a topic eg “cloud”, “cyber”, data centres” and the like and of course it will peddle Microsoft’s aims and objectives.

Utter drivel, your anti-Microsoft sentiment is showing. Concepts across all clouds AWS, GCP, and Azure are all very similar. The *-900 series of exams are very high level and give a great understanding of cloud services overall.

I'm speaking from experience, I am highly qualified in 'cloud' and work on it every single day.

For people reading this, go for it! These exams are a fantastic first step to a very lucrative and enjoyable career. GOOD LUCK!

If I remember you can also take other fundamental level exams? Is it still the case or I have to take that specific course?
