and replaced it with 10% off your next shop bill, but you need to spend £250 first. What a day to announce this LiDLGB 😡

Finally the excuse I need to persuade the wife to use Aldi instead. As much as we like some of the products at Lidl I've grown tired of leaving with only half our shop as the shelves are half empty.

    view.mail.lidlplus.co.uk/?qs…e34 for the announcement.

As you can see, the £2 voucher is still there and there is a new voucher at £150 (free W5 cleaning product).

This is a shame for people like me who live near a Lidl and prefer to shop little and often; I usually walk to Lidl once a day or every couple of days with my 2 year old son and we choose what to have for dinner that day. I don't really want to drive there and do a big shop, and to be honest you couldn't really spend that much at my local Lidl (unless you were buying an SUP) because everything is out of stock these days!

I'd be switching to Aldi for now. They raised the threshold and think that by pushing you to spend more on next shop will get more stuff sold. I go slightly above £200 pm as also shop in Asda for things that are not available in Lidl. They hiked prices so much that often it gets cheaper in Asda which previously was never the case. I guess, Lidl thinks their customer's base is well established.

This is so annoying. I tend to spend right around £200 a month at Lidl each month (definitely motivated by that £10 off voucher). But I liked that I could spread that over weekly shops plus the occasional midweek top up if I was driving past and needed something. And my weekly spend varies a lot depending on stock levels and what's on offer. I rarely, if ever, spend £100 in a go so this is a big step backwards for me. Plus only having a week to use the 10% off voucher means you are limited to whatever is on offer that week, which might not be the things I want to stock up on. It should definitely be available to use for the full month after you earn it.

Same as the comments above. We did our 'big' shop at Lidl then topped up with bits at Aldi just to get the £10 voucher. I always preferred Aldi, particularly at the moment as Lidl porchester has more empty boxes then food stuff. Will definitely do the big shop at Aldi now. Thanks for the vouchers Lidl but it's a goodbye from us.

Thats disappointing, I really liked the £10 coupon after spending £200. Might just as well go to Aldi more often, as said Lidl have a lot of empty shelves lately. Never spend £100+ in a single go.

I have shopped with Lidl for 12 years... As Aldi and Lidl are pretty much on parr in terms of cost it's fine I will just move over to Aldi. Along with the supply problems Lidl (of their own making) this is making the choice easier. Also deleting the app... Not moaning...thinking with my feet.. going elsewhere. (edited)

I think many have already if available near to them.

Just noticed this on the app.

Think everyone will be doing the same, Also it is for myself, not shopped anywhere else for 6 months.

I work for lidl and many of my work mates have all said how poor this change is. I am disappointed of this change and really relied on that extra £10 for top ups at the end of the month.

I think you get a better discount as a Lidl employee

To be honest this was bound to happen as LIDL must have been losing a lot of money by giving shoppers £12 each month thats £144 a year multiplied by all the shoppers who had lidl plus throughout the country. Still I saved lot of money while you could get a £10 voucher. Usually bought filet steaks with it. I will most probably start shopping at Aldi now.

Is having the lidl plus app worth it? I spend about £50 a month in total on food for work..

    It was.
If you spent £100 they gave you £2 and for £200 they gave you £10. Also various coupons or discounts through the month.
I don't see the point anymore.

10% off doesn't Inc alcohol sales either
*up to a maximum discount of £20 = shop spend of £200 (excluding alcohol, infant formula and gift cards)

As above comments. Off to Aldi now for me. Silly silly money grabbing move by Lidl

After the change they did in the scratchcards. Was about time they would make it worst. As above I will buy less with them.

So, this month is the last one with the old conditions ? (edited)

I was thinking of leaving as well now but it might possibly work out better of you can get multiple households to share the same card. If 2 families+ use the same account then you will hit the 10% off much sooner and the saving isn't capped at a £10 voucher
    supermann's avatar
So who gets to use the £10 off voucher in that scenario?
  17. SaturdayGigs's avatar
I think they are in serious difficulties, with empty shelves nationwide, they must have lost a lot of revenue. What stock they have has seen prices rise 20-30% on some items
    GopherTime's avatar
I think the better thing to do would be to raise prices accordingly instead of changing the loyalty program though. It may well work out the same but I think people feel like their benefits are being taken away.

Quite often at the end of the month I find myself trying to find something to stock up on to get me over the £200 barrier.

For that to move to a £250 threshold and then having to spend another £100 to get the same £10 saving I will not be bothering.

So this change will actually save me money - although lose Lidl custom.

Im surprised by the move. Making it out to be more special than it is, but they underestimate its customer base it seems.

I see plenty of negativity towards the move already

It's a shame, but still worth it for the scratchcards and the bakery item!

Thinking about this I'm not so sure it is as bad as first seems.
If you start October with a big (fortnight?) shop of £150 you will get £15 off and then only be £100 away from the getting the same next month. Currently a lot of us look to the end of the month to get the £10 back but perhaps we just need to use it at the start of the month? As has been said the change from £200 to £250 is gonna be mostly achieved by the rise in prices. :/ YMMV

I only managed to hit £200 in a month when I bought booze, now as it stands the 10% off Shop does not inc booze etc. Any shop made not using the discount can still inc booze.
*up to a maximum discount of £20 = shop spend of £200 (excluding alcohol, infant formula and gift cards)

So this has definitely promoted me to revert to Tesco again as the money off coupons are now better. Over three weeks £14 off £120 spend instead of having to now spend £350 to essentially get £12 off (after your £2 coupon has been redeemed and you meet your £250 target to get 10%off your next shop, essentially meaning you need to spend an extra £10after your £250 target has been reached in Lidl. Just went to redeem my 10% in Lidl. Shop totally barren and like a supermarket in Albania in the 90s. Yards of empty shelves and freezers. Loads of garden and kitchen machines though. Lots of going off fruit and bulging refrigerated meals well within their sell by date. Of 11 things on my list 4 were in stock. Something seriously wrong with their supply chain. Managed to spend £36 by buying frozen items I don't currently need. £3.60 saving. Disappointing. Will try Aldi again after 3 years with Lidl.

This wouldn't have happened if Mir had actually opened across UK

I got and spent my last voucher today, because I wasn't sure if it would even work next month.

On a positive note, the fish nuggets are delicious!

Really disappointed in Lidi, I will now be shopping in Aldi

Aldi is more expensive compared to Lidl so by moving to them your cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Any money back offers are still a freebie regardless.
Lidl’s standard 3 year guarantee on most of the ‘Middle Of Lidl’ range and 1 year no quibbles exchange policies are still way better than Aldi…but each to their own.
