Dell 5400 with backlit keyboard for £195 - think I'd go for that in preference?

Lenovo doesn't have backlit keyboard while Dell does if that's important

    Can this play games?

Depends which games. Got two of these from Itzoo a couple months ago, one for my 9yo, and one for me. Plays games on xcloud fine.
BUT!! Installed fifa 22 on the lads T480 and it's janky as eff. Just about playable. Also installed ms flight sim, that runs but terrible even on lowest settings.

I also bought a booststation but no gpu yet, waiting for prices to drop.
    Hope that helps.

Bought one of these a few weeks ago using the previous code. It arrived in excellent condition. Battery life is very good. It arrived with W10 Home installed but after running updates it allowed me to install W10 Pro. I'm currently installing W11 Pro. Might do a few upgrades in the future but I'm happy with it for now

I put it back on charge after about 4 hours use. It still had 28% left when I plugged it in

how upgradedable is this model of the thinkpad?
    Pauley-B's avatar
Great, 2 RAM slots, 2280 m.2 or 2.5” with an additional 2242 sata m.2 if you don’t use WWAN. You can upgrade the Wi-Fi card too (edited)

Was going to post yesterday but only had my phone on me and wasn’t sure how long stock would last - so I’m glad someone has done it.

For consistently under £200 these are quite possibly the best laptops you can get your hands on, lots of expansion, repairability, good warranty with solid performance. Shame it’s not Whiskey Lake 8th Gen, but can’t have everything. Yes, these will play light games like Roblox and possibly Minecraft, fine for retro gaming too.

I found this one on ebay which has 10th gen icore5 and 480gb hard drive for £314 which I thought was pretty decent to:

    That has wrong specs .

I'm absolutely sure this will be powerful enough for 99% of general pc non gaming use. On the down side, the major problem with these old battle beasts is the screen... Its supposed to be pretty dull. And that's a hard pass from me. Its the main way you interact with these devices. Save your pennies for one of the new generation oled.... They'll blow your mind.

Some of them have IPS, but you need to email them to find out. I don't think this one does though.

Got this a few months ago for general office use, teams, zoom etc. Not for gaming. Straight forward update to windows 11. Love it.

Not a great price for a refurb. I bought a 10th gen i5 the other day in great condition for £139.99.

Where from? eBay one off? That's a lot harder to find if that's the case? Plus this will have 12 month warranty which does give some peace of mind
  14. dcx_badass's avatar
Not a bad price but I'm holding out for £150 or below, the same spec X280 which just has a 12.5" screen instead of 14" and is otherwise the same is down to £145 now. (edited)
    hcc27's avatar
But that's with the HD screen. The 1080p X280 is a tad over £200 with the discount code, though one lucky sod on here had received it by accident.

    How’s the battery?
    sam.hkud's avatar
Mine has two batteries inside .
  16. dewey2's avatar
Had one of these a couple of months ago. Mine came with a broken hinge (the screen wobbles) and a really weak internal battery at 15.4Wh/24Wh which fails the Lenovo battery test. Under load it will reboot under 25% charge. The other battery is 16.8Wh/24Wh. Seems to drain 1 battery before starting on the other, probably makes it worse. Similar laptops have a single 60Wh cell.

The keyboard is freshy screenprinted (from Norwegian?), the F keys are dominated by the secondary function icons (volume, brightness) with a tiny F label in the corner thats hard to see. Overall cosmetic condition is great, trackpad also looks new. The USB-A ports arent that snug but I think all T480s are like that
    Deal_searcher's avatar
Did you get that fixed. To be honest a few scratches on the case is no problem. The colour and design means it hides it well. What is more important is screen quality and battery condition
  17. T-A's avatar
Can anyone else confirm the condition other than Mr.Biggs?
  18. Warney's avatar
Had 2 of these last week for wife and kid to use for work and homework, couple of scratches on lid but only noticeable if it catches the light in a very way, no other complaints and both are great value for what I am using them for

Bought a laptop from ITZoo. Got a very good price anyway for a Thinkpad P52 (Paid £360I think). Turns out GPU was incorrectly listed. After some amount of discussion, given 2 year warranty and £75 off. Great customer service and UPS delivery too.

How long does the battery last?
  21. Blender's avatar
Bought a refurbed T480 from them about a month ago. Still had a I.T admin account on it from what ever local authority they purchased it off, so deleted that and reinstalled Windows. Battery life was also terrible. Itzoo kindly sent out a replacement battery free of charge though once i contacted them.

No, that’s just if you want to upgrade to windows 10 pro.
