Just bought one an EO mini pro 2, £297 tethered from onbuy but couldn't post it.

I had this at old house when I got a freebie installed back in the day.
Checked & triple checked connections before going live. All works perfectly. Cable cost me £178 & cleats £8. Shorter run would’ve been much cheaper and quicker. I suppose my point being £449 or above for a fairly short run seems quite high for what should take an electrician maybe an hours work.
The Zappi does have DC RCD built in but some other chargers do not. Just mentioning for the sake of others that might read your post barrel on with only an MCB. Similarly, other chargers may require consideration of PEN fault protection.
Note I'm not saying DIYer can't do a safe job or that I agree with the law. Just pointing out that getting it working doesn't mean it's safe or legal
Mine was a shorter run and no swa required as I ran through the house under floorboards.
I only removed it because I didn't get enough use out of it so I returned within 2 weeks.
I had the ohme charger with the commando plug from octopus.
Cost me £200 from octopus plus about 5 metres of 6mm² cable.
I didn't want to say earlier because there are too many people in here who think the world would stop turning if they stopped turning terminals (edited)
It's only £449 fixed price for installation which is a great deal depending on where you're getting the charger installed and how far away it is from your consumer unit.
Problem is we dont have drive way so i left it that
Also, before you book an installer ask them to inspect the site... Ours turned up unable to work above head height (seriously) so going over a door was out of the question... Plus he was only 'allowed' to use 15m of cable !
After the circus had left, I researched the qualifications required to fit these things..... Five WEEKS from scratch and that includes becoming an "electrician" !
No wonder they send monkeys.
Liking the compact look of this charger....Leaning towards Hypervolt though since they do a 10m tethered cable. Getting installs moving with these things is proving to be difficult.
For anyone that has an EV charger...is it hooked up to a new MCB in your consumer unit, or is the main cable tailed off into a mini CU? I have a free slot on the CU, so guessing they'd bang a new 32A MCB in their and run some 6mm SWA to the charger?! (edited)
Also you must have capacity on the rcd.
Installers generally don't like touching existing writing so they keep their own work separate including standalone Consumer unit. (edited)
I will fit it myself too so get the electrical police on standby
In saying that, another local spark wanted £1400 to fit...seems excessive. (edited)
On another note, anyone have an opinion on whether this is any better than a PodPoint Solo 3? I can get a 7kW tethered PPS3 plus installation for about £100 less than this Wallbox and was wondering whether to go for that instead...
If you have solar or looking at getting solar then I'd recommend one that will divert excess solar to the charger using CT clamps.
Zappi, Simpson, Anderson etc.
