This alarm conforms to the latest British Standards, but further intervention may be required to wake sleeping children.

These products fully comply with UK (UKCA) and EU (CE) regulations.

All homes in Scotland are now required by law to have ceiling-mounted and interlinked fire alarms. This new legislation applies to heat and smoke alarms. The law places the onus on the homeowner and/or landlord to make these changes – contact your local fire prevention officer for advice or consult the Government website.

For smoke alarms that fully comply with new Scottish legislation, see: 98385 , 54804 , 79890

Don't bother with these I've had 2 the first lasted 2 years the 2nd lasted 18 months and you can't change the battery, buy one were you can replace the battery yourself.

How often did you burn your toast though?

Not suitable in Scotland, must be linked across the home

Right. People looking at this better just leave nothing up

Do your self a favour and don’t buy these. Batteries run out well before 10yers and company just ignored my emails. Rather get the one where you can change batteries and they will last lot longer.

Like what? If you say it's rubbish it's really helpful to suggest something better

I've got Yale smart heat detector and a hardwired smoke detector. Not had any issues yet, 6+ years

I've heard bad things but I literally can't find any reputable brand anywhere lol, I need to replace all of mine and I want to get linked ones, yet I have no idea what to go for.

And replace them every 10 years from the date of manufacture. I think mine are coming up for renewal, so thanks OP.

I had one of these outside my bedroom door for about 2 years. It went off one night at 2.50 am. The whole house was up and there was no smoke or fire. It would t switch off and was blaring in my face. I ended up tearing it apart with my hands and ripping siren out.

Lol I had same experience. Dunked it in water and still worked, used a hammer and still kept going.

Are these on a par with the ones the Fire Service would've fitted in the past?
    happymanuk's avatar
These are very similar and are what the manufacturer have replaced mine with when the ones from the fire service failed within the warranty.

They sort of honor the warranty. I had 6 that failed. 2 were replaced under warranty - send the id number of the detector to the company and they will replace them providing there is no evidence of damage, water staining etc. and the label is intact.

These are supposed to last ten years but only guaranteed for five, the older model with the three small buttons was far more reliable, the quality has went right down since this shape came out with the large centre button.Fire angel charge the fire service 7 pound a piece when they buy in bulk, thousands at a time.I fit around 100 a month. Most of the people who get them fitted could afford to buy there own.

Do you ever question having to make holes in Asbestos Rendered Texture ceilings? can't be good for us.

As noted, these do not meet the required specification and interlinked requirements for Scotland. In which case, if anyone is looking for recommendations, I have the Hispec battery interlinked units supplied by Electrical Counter and have fitted elsewhere. They are painfully loud, I have had zero issues and they no more difficult to install than old school detectors.

These are brilliant, bought these from amazon last month for double this price. 😞 great offer and great find
  14. kenzo's avatar
For anyone renting..landlords by law have to fit these..as well as carbon monoxide alarms so don’t buy these yourselfs.
  15. kalico's avatar
The batteries will not last 10 years. Not a chance.
    Neelk290642's avatar
They do..I just replaced mine, exactly 10years 1 month.

We had these in the past, but they started beeping after about 5 years so I had to throw them away. Swapped to some from Amazon and they've been fine for years, XSense IIRC.
  17. Hassan_u7's avatar
We had these installed in June 2021 and on one of them battery is gone already last month, keeping beeping
