probably Ok for a 'portable' computer rather than a laptop.

a middling review, even at the time (albeit slightly less spec) laptopmag.com/rev…52s

I think most people would be better served by a newer, lighter, more powerful, cooler, more efficient, brighter laptop . Unless you really really want the nice KB with trackpoint and numberpad

That’s not even the same system - that’s the P52s which is the slower, thinner mobile version and is based on the T590 with quad-core at top-end. The full P52 has a proper professional GPU (something they complained about) and full power six-core CPU, not U series and a full magnesium alloy casing - it also weighs more and has much better thermal capability.

Great systems but these were under £300 from ITZOO last time round so quite a bit more and 8th Gen is getting on a bit.

They didn't have this spec. This is easily comparable.

Poor site design. Doesn't let you search for 17" screens, only 15" plus, which means you would have to click on every single 15" item to check!

Probably a very solid laptop for the money but if my 8th gen laptop is anything to go by the battery will not last very long at all especially with that cpu and dedicated gpu.
I'm now looking to replace my 8th gen. Even a basic i5-1235u is faster than this cpu and uses 15w instead of 45w. Granted the gpu in this thinkpad is faster but £400 is aiot to spend on a laptop that will probably have to be plugged in most of the time.

Not sure if you know that workstation series laptops like this when new cost around £2000+ while similar consumer models with similar processors cost £500-600 range, so these models are minimum 3x times expensive not just becaose of the processor but their hardware which is much more reliable in terms of performance and security features, agree that a normal home user may not use it and thats why they buy the shiny consumer plastic body models, bit to compare this machine with an average Joe is pointless.

Also its easy to upgrade ram and ssd, this beast has option to add 2x nvme drives and 1x 2.5 inch ssd/hdd plus 4 slots for the ram (expanding to 128gb)

£439.99 now; and I see no gpu listed, is it for sure a p1000?
