I can't see any mention of Freeview or Freesat inputs - is it an internet streaming only TV?

But unlike a regular Fire TV Stick, the Omni Series in the UK is fitted with a terrestrial tuner, so you'll be able to access terrestrial broadcast TV too. That offers Freeview Play, so you'll be able to load up the familiar Freeview Play EPG and browse the channels and decide what you want to watch.

I've just read the two articles about this TV and they read more like press releases than hands-on reviews - I'm not sure either publication actually got to play with the TVs. I think they were just shown the TV in a room at Amazon offices and then they've written an article based off what they were told in the meeting.

Can you use it like a normal tv with sky etc?
    jordanc93's avatar
yep it's got 4 HDMI ports so can use whatever equipment you like (edited)

These are TCL sets with fire os not bad for the money but I think I saw a video from digital trends like above that said it was equivelant to the TCL 5 series and for the same money you can buy a TCL 6 series and a firestick. Either way more competition in the market is never a bad thing as it drives the prices down on other brands generally (edited)

Nvidia shield would be much better choice than Fire-stick. Apart from Alexa the Amazon’s software is rubbish.

illegal advertising as no power or power efficiency mentioned and only one year warranty (edited)

You will find u are covered under consumer rights for 6 years (England) 5 years (Scotland) so if the item has a defect/warranty issue. Then u are covered.

This is dearer than the Hisense QLEDs. The 43 inch QLED direct from hisense the other day was aroun £220 and the 65 inch is currently £436.
    captain_brown's avatar
    Which hisense please?

Look at the TCL 6 series tvs

If they made this 120hz and 4 x HDMI 2.1 they would have blew the competition out the water! Poor step backwards for a release…..a flagship model with no flag! ……and a poor ship.
    ArchBants's avatar
Its not designed to be high end. That's why they can get away with it being sub-£800.

If it had 120hz and 4 HDMI you'd be here instead complaining that it's too expensive.

    It's called a compromise

I bought one of these fire TVs a few years back. The software is awful but maybe better now
    dspencer12345's avatar
Aren't these Fire TVs brand new? Or are you Matthew McFly?

    60Hz booooo

Will be ironic when a few years down the line you’ll have to add a separate Amazon fire stick to it as the built in version will be so old and laggy.
    kwl147's avatar
I am worried what CPU, RAM and storage capacity the device actually has.

This is the main issue currently with the firesticks. The CPU isn’t good enough, RAM isn’t good enough and neither is the storage capacity for long term usage.

How much better are the LGs than this (the CS, I think?) also, when are they expected to go on offer (I’m thinking sub £1300)?
    Cheers

These will not compare to a an LG OLED C2

    Let the price war commence

The 43" version for £349 looks interesting for a QLED TV. Wonder how the built-in FireOS compares to the current 4K Fire TV sticks.

It looks good but I can't tell if it has local dimming. Might not at that size.

Who is manufacturing these for Amazon? Hisense? TCL? Vestel? Foxcon?
    Kankan101's avatar
My monies on TCL tbh and you're only getting 1 year warranty with a 999 quid normal price. hhmmm

Don't like the length warranty explanation, hooked to stop anyone moaning after the first year and to take up any complaint's with the manufacturer very specifically worded. (edited)
  17. Iamlegend1981's avatar
I'd expect overall quality to be poor, but that's reflected in the price.

Any good in the market for a 50inch TV.
Just for parent's "Not gaming or anything".

Seems roughly equivalent to TCL 5 Series with Fire OS.

Anyone know what these are like? I had a Toshiba Fire TV and the operating system was really unstable. It would freeze or reboot randomly when watching Nerflix etc. Then developed a fault with the TV Tuner, so that it would flicker and Toshiba were unable to resolve it so I got a refund. If this has the same software running it I'd avoid it like the plague!

These are pre-order in this country so doubt anyone can answer that.

If I buy today, will I be charged today or on dispatch? I’ve been caught out by this before, didn’t think Amazon would charge until dispatch then they took the money straight away!
    airdsuk's avatar
Put it on their 'Five Monthly Payments' interest free scheme - your only charged 20% on dispatch. If you are logged in, click the relevant link for further details in the payment options section. (edited)

amazon in the TV supplying business lol. Probably matured sales on alexa, so they decided to bundle it in TVs..... They really wanna compete with google and apple now in the tech market. (edited)
    powerbrick's avatar
Amazon are market leaders in streaming sticks and smart speakers.
  25. misiokicio's avatar
its not a bad telly for the monnies, just dont expect this to be on oled level, and fire tv... some like fire sticks some don't, Personally i prefer web os on my oled, paired with Nvidia shield, 80 dimming zones still far better than edge lit tellies
    kwl147's avatar
Yeah fr the shield is probably the best thing tbh. I’ve had firesticks before and they’re not the best long term. Alexa might be decent but the rest of Fire OS is disgracefully poor by comparison. Even Android TV isn’t the best.
  26. OllieFTH's avatar
Personally I’d take the TCL C765K over this, it’s the same price and generally a better TV overall but the main killer feature it has over this, you get a 120hz (it actually can do up to 144hz though) refresh rate which is massive especially if you have a PS5 hooked up. It’s Google TV based rather than Alexa however.

Edit - Made an error it’s actually called the 65C735K! (edited)
    Quids's avatar
You sure you mean a TCL C765K...? Can't find that on Google.
  27. harps87's avatar
Saw these on Amazon home page why is it preorder for the QLED. Im tempted by the cheaper UHD tv to use in a bedroom - just a shame it doesnt have the voice controlled Alexa the more expensive QLED comes with.
  28. captain_brown's avatar
Surprised they're only offering 0% over 5 months on these. If they offered it over 12-24 they'd sell like hot cakes.

I mean they probably will anyway but I think they're missing a trick there. (edited)
    Iamlegend1981's avatar
Probably break before the 24 month period.

TCL 65C635K 65-inch QLED Television is £542 on Amazon
  30. stevogums's avatar
I Really don't see the point of these TVs ? When you can purchase something with better build quality and performance and add a 4k stick ?
    deleted2686495's avatar
Using that argument, just buy a telly of the same spec (quality up to you) ignore all smart features, then use a stick anyway. You have to pay for the smarts as it's almost impossible not to get a smart telly at all. And at some point they stop updating the apps, so you need to get a stick/new telly anyway.
  31. kwl147's avatar
Anyone know the difference between the 55 inch and 65 inch aside from the size of the TV?

Can 10 inches really justify an extra £200?
    BraddersJ's avatar
Please sit down before you look at the price difference between a 65" and 75" (77") OLED bud!

Also, I'm not sure anyone knows yet and I doubt this TV will get a technical review deep enough for us to find this out. If I had to, I'd wager that there's no difference other than the size (edited)
