Can this be used to power anything? Also what is the connection if so?

Don't think so, looking on Rings site it says

Power Connection: 3.9 metre cable with weatherproof barrel connector

Don’t know. Maybe this will help…
I went into my local garage and said “can you give me a wiper blade for my Skoda”. Guy gave the car a quick look and said “Seems like a fair swap”.

It doesn't need to be sunny to work, normal cloudy daylight works too.

Well i bought it and attached it to the outside of my house. Then i turned off the mains. Disappointingly my house remains without power. This isn’t like Subnautica at all.

2w more like it, 5w if you are lucky. Its a ring flood light battery topper upper. You are better off with ebay, you can get 2 panels for less than this.

No, will only charge the rechargeable battery pack if you have one. Must have D batteries or hard wired.

They don't even show wattage of this panel so I bet that it's maybe 20W or less

It's a 2.2W panel, ~500mA at 5.2v. Why would they make it 20W lol, it's built for purpose. (edited)

    Pedders2020
Yeah, 2.2W. These have been half price on Ring for yonks, there’s a new usc c version they do in 2 sizes, larger one is 4W, smaller one is 1.9W. Compatible with older camera etc with barrel to usb c adaptor (edited)

Isn't this a security hazard, criminals or just kids intentionally covering the panel to discharge your camera when you are away?
    Pedders2020's avatar

You want to place them up high to maximise sunlight so non-issue. Otherwise you could argue that for all solar panels! Also, battery lasts months on full charge, the solar just keeps it topped up

I had to buy a short adaptor cable for mine. They've changed the socket on the latest Ring Cameras.49890226-zTbdn.jpg

also wanting to know if this could be used on a ring doorbell or not. Unsure how it would connect given there are no inputs/output ports on the doorbells

Amongst all of the hilarious replies, has anyone actually bought one of these and just used it for what it's designed for - ie powering a ring cam?

I'm really fed up with faffing with the batteries and would buy these if they'll actually keep the cameras charged up all the time... If the batteries run out each night etc I'll not bother.
