With a GPS watch (not this one, but one with similar features), I found knowing my distances gave me much more confidence that I was hitting the right club. One less thing to think about means I'm able to focus more on the other parts of the game, including my swing. Now I regularly score under 100.
On the odd occasion I play an unfamiliar course I find it even more useful.
