In short allows Picture in Picture to play for YouTube (so carries on playing videos, music etc when using other things on phone/iPad) which you normally only get with a subscription to YouTube Premium on iOS

    You can play music in the background already. Go to YouTube on safari. Request the desktop site, play the video you want, wait 2/3 seconds, close safari, the video will stop. Pull down from the top right and you’ll see the play button for the YouTube video. Once you press play, the soundtrack to the video will play in the background. Good for podcasts, lectures or long mixes (edited)

    Type YouTube into the Browser box in the app. Choose whatever video as normal.
    When playing in YouTube there’s a Picture in Picture icon at the top. Click and you have Picture in Picture (edited)

    Just a warning about this app from the settings.

    PERMISSIONS
    Web Page Contents and Browsing History Can read and alter sensitive information on web pages, including passwords, phone numbers and credit cards, and see your browsing history on the current tab's web page when you use the extension.

    Thanks op. Works a treat. Just so people are aware, you can’t actually watch PiP from the YouTube app, you have to copy/paste the YouTube URL in the PiP app itself. It’s effectively a (poor) browser with PiP functionality. It works well as an extension on Safari for iOS though.

    No not on YouTube (unless you pay for YouTube Premium) whatever you’re watching stops if you open/look at anything else
    That’s why YouTube/Google charge £9.99 per month as one of the Premium features, the other being no ads….

    LOL its already built in ! you dont need to do anything accept change it in your settings under video's then pictures in pictures, click on switch on or swipe across the small tiny bar. Android isn't anything like Afoole its all free

    This app also works on camera, files, other web sites etc etc for PiP….

    I just happened to highlight it for YouTube as to me it’s great for that (edited)

    No it’s not a recorder it’s to be able to use what’s normally part of YouTube Premium. You can have Picture in Picture, so doing other things on phone with a YouTube screen playing

    If you don’t mind using safari instead of the YT app then vinegar is great. I’ve used it for ages.
