    Suffered from panic attacks late at night while trying to go to sleep.

    Very common. There's a defensive mechanism in humans to be ultra aware to dangers when you're about to go into that vulnerable state of sleep. Your thoughts can be ultra negative too but it's very normal. I think your panic attacks will be this and then the threat and mystery of the panic attacks on top making you anxious about the anxiety.

    Knowing why it happens and that it's very common was comforting to me, hopefully it gives you some comfort too!
