Not the best price but certainly solid if you need something now

Not sure when I've seen this monitor at a better price?
You'll struggle to get an equivalent monitor with these specs at this price.

Possible 2.55% back on Tech Purchases via TopCashBack, so maybe just over a fiver when you take VAT off?

Decent monitor for the price. Sadly not in stock near me (BH23) and not in stock for delivery either

This happened the last time the deal was posted for this monitor. Wait until Argos put it back to normal price (£299), and magically it's back in stock everywhere.

I wasn't sure if that was exactly the same one - RTINGS say theirs is the Acer Nitro XV272U KVbmiiprzx (bit of a mouthful).

The Argos one is Acer Nitro XV272UV.

I’m after a 27” screen to use on desk in bedroom. It will be used 3 days a week for work, ie spreadsheets, web applications (office admin role) ….. AND, on occasion, for watching TV and movies via either a Freesatbox or an Amazon Fire Stick. When watching TV and movies we’ll be sat about 2.5 to 3m away from screen. The screen needs to be compact as desk is relatively small and I need desk space for mouse, keyboard and files.

I’m no techie …… Is this screen suitable or is the AOC screen from
currys posted a couple of days ago more suitable?? Any advice appreciated.

I would say unless you have a 4K fire stick and plan on streaming content higher than 1080p, you could save some money and get something that delivers 60-100hz since you’re not gaming on it. Or spend about the same money for a larger panel if you have space for a 31/32”

Thanks for the advice. I think FreeSat is standard Full HD only? although we do have a 4k firestick and I’d like it to be future proof to a degree. I don’t think our  (small) desk and (work) viewing distance would suit 32” unfortunately, hence why looking for 27”.  I had fixated on QHD as thought this was the native best suited resolution for this screen size?

Cost saving does appeal. Would Full HD and 60htz with 27” suit both work and tv/movies? Would the integrated speakers suffice for occasional tv/movies?

No problem! You can still get a QHD monitor but you’ll only be watching the extra quality when streaming 1440p content or 4K content downscaled. Yes, you’ll be future proofing yourself if you decide to get a 4K fire stick but then you’d have to also be paying for the 4K Netflix package, for example.
The AOC from Curry’s looks like really good value but although I could be wrong, I highly doubt it’ll have built in speakers (my AOC doesn’t). I have a Lenovo 24 FHD 144hz main monitor currently which has great for both work (music DAW, video editing, 365 apps etc) and the odd bit of gaming, but I’m starting to edit more 4K footage and do some more PC gaming, hence why I’m looking to upgrade.

As an audio/music producer/engineer I’d never be satisfied with TV or monitor integrated speakers but I would suggest just trying them first though and making your own judgement, although you don’t have to spend much nowadays to get some kind of audio upgrade. I believe Razer, Creative and steel series have some decent small desktop speakers.

Argos crap these days, especially in terms of returns. I gave up on them over 10 years ago when I had reserved something for collection, but although the store was open, there was nobody available to take payment and provide the goods. Not bothered trying to buy anything since

Really getting annoyed with these Argos deals.. They never have them in stock and its always 50+ miles to your nearest.
