apparently poor battery on this version but I've been using 4 of the normal version for a few months and they have been fantastic. (and I've found they're more accurate than my airtags)

Just a reminder for some people you need a S21+ or newer to benefit from this version of the tag. Otherwise just get the basic version

My sister's husband has Alzheimers, and recently she has lost him a couple of times in crowded places.
I don't know how this works, might it be useful if sewn onto a wristband or some such for him to wear?
There are specialist devices, but they are fearsomely expensive.

IMO They are junk, get an apple air tag. I will show you why from the official Samsung site

    > The SmartTag+ is compatible with Android OS 8.0 or higher. However, to use the AR finding feature, your Galaxy phone or tablet must support Android 11 or higher. The feature is currently available on Note 20 Ultra, S21+, S21 Ultra, and Z Fold 2. Third-party Android devices and iOS devices are not supported.

This basically means that if she lost her husband, she would be relying on someone else to have a Samsung phone with the above specs.

The tags are ok as a freebie, even as a little reminder you've left something behind, but not sufficient for what you want.

Alternatively stick a sim card in an old android device (with GPS and internet) and track him using that.

Just had a look , the pack of 4 looks like it's £39, it also has ultra wide band.

Isn't that better value for money?

The four pack for £39 is for the standard SmartTag not the SmartTag+. You can get the 2 pack of SmartTag+ for £48.99 amazon.co.uk/dp/…h=1 (edited)

These are great for travelling - I always stick one in my suitcase / pushchair and when I arrive at my destination, I check if the bag has also arrived. Saves me time at the baggage carousel.
I also have one hidden in the car just incase

Yes true - it relies on Bluetooth off another person's phone, but I think many people have a phone in their pocket be it Samsung or another make

I thought it only uses Bluetooth from Samsung phones and not any other android makes of phones
