Google has just launched / made a number of free AI courses from this week. Deal link goes to all the courses, but more info listed below. You can learn at your own pace if interested in any of these courses.
This is an introductory level microlearning course aimed at explaining what Generative AI is, how it is used, and how it differs from traditional machine learning methods. It also covers Google Tools to help you develop your own Gen AI apps. This course is estimated to take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
This is an introductory level microlearning course that explores what large language models (LLM) are, the use cases where they can be utilized, and how you can use prompt tuning to enhance LLM performance. It also covers Google tools to help you develop your own Gen AI apps. This course is estimated to take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
This is an introductory-level microlearning course aimed at explaining what responsible AI is, why it's important, and how Google implements responsible AI in their products. It also introduces Google's 7 AI principles.
Earn a skill badge by completing the Introduction to Generative AI, Introduction to Large Language Models and Introduction to Responsible AI courses. By passing the final quiz, you'll demonstrate your understanding of foundational concepts in generative AI.
A skill badge is a digital badge issued by Google Cloud in recognition of your knowledge of Google Cloud products and services. Share your skill badge by making your profile public and adding it to your social media profile.
This course introduces diffusion models, a family of machine learning models that recently showed promise in the image generation space. Diffusion models draw inspiration from physics, specifically thermodynamics. Within the last few years, diffusion models became popular in both research and industry. Diffusion models underpin many state-of-the-art image generation models and tools on Google Cloud. This course introduces you to the theory behind diffusion models and how to train and deploy them on Vertex AI.
This course gives you a synopsis of the encoder-decoder architecture, which is a powerful and prevalent machine learning architecture for sequence-to-sequence tasks such as machine translation, text summarization, and question answering. You learn about the main components of the encoder-decoder architecture and how to train and serve these models. In the corresponding lab walkthrough, you’ll code in TensorFlow a simple implementation of the encoder-decoder architecture for poetry generation from the beginning.
This course will introduce you to the attention mechanism, a powerful technique that allows neural networks to focus on specific parts of an input sequence. You will learn how attention works, and how it can be used to improve the performance of a variety of machine learning tasks, including machine translation, text summarization, and question answering. This course is estimated to take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
This course introduces you to the Transformer architecture and the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) model. You learn about the main components of the Transformer architecture, such as the self-attention mechanism, and how it is used to build the BERT model. You also learn about the different tasks that BERT can be used for, such as text classification, question answering, and natural language inference. This course is estimated to take approximately 45 minutes to complete.
This course teaches you how to create an image captioning model by using deep learning. You learn about the different components of an image captioning model, such as the encoder and decoder, and how to train and evaluate your model. By the end of this course, you will be able to create your own image captioning models and use them to generate captions for images
This course introduces Generative AI Studio, a product on Vertex AI, that helps you prototype and customize generative AI models so you can use their capabilities in your applications. In this course, you learn what Generative AI Studio is, its features and options, and how to use it by walking through demos of the product. In the end, you will have a hands-on lab to apply what you learned and a quiz to test your knowledge.
The Generative AI Explorer - Vertex Quest is a collection of labs on how to use Generative AI on Google Cloud. Through the labs, you will learn about how to use the models in the Vertex AI PaLM API family, including text-bison, chat-bison, and textembedding-gecko. You will also learn about prompt design, best practices, and how it can be used for ideation, text classification, text extraction, text summarization, and more. You will also learn how to tune a foundation model by training it via Vertex AI custom training and deploy it to a Vertex AI endpoint.
Good find. Might as well jump in, it's going to take a lot of jobs over the coming years so at least I'll have better knowledge

You can joke. I'm a writer, I've been doing it full time for over five years. I've been outsourcing work to other writers and things have been great. Since chatgpt became mainstream around Jan Feb, I've had to stop outsourcing and even my own work has slowed beyond anything I've seen in the last five years.

Beware Google Cloud costs. If you're new to it and not sure what you're doing, then that "Free" can easily turn into a hefty bill. So don't add billing details - Google Cloud will automatically limit your ability to use chargeable stuff then.

I swear the proportion of quips to useful comments is increasing here, its reading more and more like comments on a Facebook meme post

These courses seem to focus on generative AI (crearting content out of user prompts for example) and large language models (like ChatGPT). So pretty good if somebody is interested in these topics Of course there is more to AI than these topics alone and for someone starting with AI they are better to start with courses that focus more on the core knowledge and fundamentals first like the many ones on Coursera (edited)

Are they free? I had a look at the popular MIT ones and seems you need to pay a monthly subscription? Thanks

Just so nobody wastes their own time on this. Around course 11, you have to pay in order to move on. Waste of time and not free the whole way.

This is a fascinating watch on where AI could scarily take us.

Yess exactly. We’ve already seen and are seeing what social media has done for people. So take those small minded muppets and give them the ability to fake being capable, skilled people? And then those people can fake their way into positions of power and wealth.
People already hate the wealthy, well just wait until the AI generation are in charge. People who feel entitled to wealth and power without having ever earned it. Everyone knows the stereotype of the brat rich kid, well there’s going to be a lot more of that

I wonder how many people will use AI to complete these courses and then come out as useless as they went in

As a Large-Language Model I am unable to generate replies to forums on the internet. That said, I do have a passport, and me and my friend Del are going on a road trip starting in Night City this summer. (edited)

Get on LinkedIn and start messaging every campus recruiter you stumble across. Prepare a covering letter explaining your situation and a CV (include your University and course years) There are lots of opportunities out there for kids leaving school, but it's hard to know where to look. All big tech companies Google Microsoft Amazon Meta. Banks Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley. Think big companies. Message dozens and dozens of people. Even same ones from the same company. Became somewhat competent at coding (basics) and learn Git. Best of luck to you
