Slow cooker on low for 6 hours ish.
    What does your cooker use?
1kg of beans, at 150w (max) per hour for 6 hours. 900 watts which, if with Tracker, could cost you less than 20p.
But you could do the same with kidney beans, and other.
Whilst you might not use the 2kg of cooked beans immediately, it is not going to be much cheaper with a smaller quantity, so just drain, dry, and freeze. (edited)

If you are going to need quite an amount per meal or week, then buy the dry beans, usually cheaper from the Asian shops, soak overnight with 3:1 water, rinse and drain, and put them on to cook slow and low, making sure they are covered in water.
You can bulk prep, and freeze, but the cost saving compared to the space lost in the freezer for "yellow label" goods is not worth it

Yes! With an overnight soak they cook quicker. And swell up to more than twice the weight after cooking.

Tins of pulses have helped us improve our supermarket shopping bill. Enjoying experimenting once/twice a week with added homemade sauces & veg. Such as coconut based sauce or spicy tomatoey etc etc

Dried will help you improve it more. Little bit of baking powder in the water helps them soften lovely. Tins are like little bullets for some reason.

This is the same as the normal price of a tin of chickpeas at Asda.
