Yes I shock when the kids are done for the day, sun cream really makes the water murky, we shock then put the filter on for half hour and then we have two bobbers with a chlorine tablet each in them.

Kids haven't been in the pool this weekend so we've just let it be and will do a dip test middle of the week and check if it needs more chlorine. Was a faff to begin with but you get used to it and you don't have to change the water at all if you keep on top of the chlorine levels.

Filters were cheap enough from Amazon, got a huge container of chlorine tablets from a post on hotukdeals and will only need to look at getting more this year, they've lasted well. The chlorine granules came from b&m and you just need capful in to shock the pool.

For pool cover we use a large bit of tarpaulin, don't buy the Intex/best way covers, they are terrible and ripped as soon as rain got on top.

OP means original poster, PS means post script, as in, after writing, in addition to.

3.3 m3 of water will probably cost you about £10 to fill it up. Just in case anyone was wondering

Isn’t water ~£1/m3? If so more like ~£3.50? (edited)

Now we know why some regions are complaining of water shortages. It's because every Hotukdealer has a personal reservoir in their back garden

If we all buy one, maybe Thames water will go back to profit

Nah, we'd just be giving them somewhere else to dump the sewage.
