The most awaited replacement for the multi-award winning A19 amplifier, the Arcam SA10 amplifier is an ultra-low distortion type Class A/B amplifier that will loom over its predecessor when it comes to performance. The Arcam SA-10 has been designed to set new standards, whether your music is playing via compact disc or streamed from a computer, and has become the new standard-setter in digital audio. The SA10 features five analogue inputs (1x line/MM switchable) and three digital inputs (2x SPDIF and 1x optical). This is a powerful integrated amplifier that has become well known for its fast dynamics, and thanks to the ESS Sabre 9016 DAC, this amplifier offers optimum a superb, low-jitter digital performance.Key

Features

  • Extremely efficient class A/B amplification
  • 50W of power per channel
  • 5 analogue inputs including phono
  • 3 digital inputs
  • 32-bit DAC,Sabre ESS9016K2M
  • Full I/P control
  • Total harmonic distortion + noise = 0.003%

This Integrated amplifier works hard to maintain excellent stereo separation in order to achieve a wide and deep musical soundstage, all while minimizing the interference. The SA10 Integrated amplifier features both a preamplifier and a power amplifier for source switching, volume control and superior amplification.

The design of the HDA range draws upon all of Arcam’s experience as one of the UK’s most respected audio companies, to produce Arcam’s best performing range of audio products yet – using the best quality components and engineering practices, the HDA range is designed and built to give you years of listening enjoyment.

SA10
In any amplifier, the signal path is at the mercy of anything that creates noise within the unit. Thus, we spare no expense in using only the most high-quality components, even if it means the cost of our power supplies overtaking that of everything else.

The result, of course, is worth every penny.
A singer’s sharp intake of breath before hitting the chorus, a guitarist’s fingers sliding against the strings – it’s those seemingly minor details that can bring music to life. Fish out one of your all-time favourite albums and play it through a Bluetooth speaker, and guess what? Its sounds like a Bluetooth speaker. Play it through the SA10, and it’s as close to hearing the artist’s performance as you’re likely to get. There’s always joy in digging out an old recording you haven’t heard in years. With the HDA range, it’ll feel like hearing it forthe first time.

I own this after decades of Cambridge, NAD, Audiolab, former Arcam amplifiers and probably others I've forgotten.

Highly recommended, used it with Arcam CDS27, CDS50, Rega DAC, Thorens turntable and LG TV through Wgarfdale Denton 80th Anniversary loudspeakers.

Measures 60W into 8 ohms, Arcam understate power. More coherent at high volume levels than big brother SA20. It has great control over my fairly low sensitivity 86dB speakers.

Great back lit remote for vampire listeners like myself.

Internal DAC is really good as it would be from Arcam but I have the CDS50 which is better, BTW you can buy both SA10 and CDS50 for £948 which is a bargain for a real hifi CD, SACD streaming network system... Just add speakers to taste.

Could you recommend a pair of speakers to compliment this setup? Preferably on sale at Peter Tyson. I'm looking to get back into HiFi and will be playing a lot of classical and jazz. Don't really want to spend a load of money but might as well stick to streaming through an Alexa otherwise, I suppose.

This or the Arcam SA20 at £699.99?

It depends on your needs. The SA20 won't necessarily sound better than the SA10 but the SA20 has a higher spec inbuilt DAC.

Do you need more power than SA10 and do you own big speakers in a large listening room? Do you need the higher spec DAC? I don't as I own Arcam CDS50 SACD network streamer.

Great 'credible' review in HiFi choice where they state:

"In fact, the SA10 betters its sibling (SA20) at maintaining its composure at higher volumes."

But you can read the whole review here and as an owner of SA10 it sounds spot on.

    And SA20 review below:

    HiFi choice SA20 review

Note the reviewer tests SA10 with pretty serious expensive PMC floorstanding speakers and suggests bookshelf speakers may be more fitting. With my Wharfdale Denton 80th speakers the bass is superb for such 'small' speakers. (edited)

Great price for this. I own the previous version A19 which I bought for around this price when they were about to replace it with this. So this should be even better than the A19 and a no brainier for anyone in the market for a quality amp. If it helps anyone my Arcam goes well with Q Accoustic 2050i speakers which are what I use so imagine will go well with this also.

I second that. I'm using this amplifier with Q Acoustics 3030i speakers and they go really well together.
