Be interested to hear why a professional installed wireless alarm system like a pyronix is better.
As torn between that and Ring
I have both systems, one at work one at home. With professional installed Pyronix systems you can set it up to call an emergency center who may call the police. With Ring systems they will just call you. I think thats the main difference. As alarms and sensors they both work fine.
In terms of daily use the Ring system is so much better mainly because the app is so much better. The pyronix app feels like it was last updated in 2012. Its so slow to connect and only connects about half the time. Also it only retains history of the last 5 minutes (slight exageration) so i cant check why an alarm got triggered in the morning for example. Also the notifications are delayed by upto 30 minutes. I get a call long before i get an app notification if something was triggered. Pyronix as a whole has a very dated system. I tried configuring one myself and it was such a pita going through all the menus using a keypad. The Rings app is easy to navigate and makes configuration very easy.
To add if you have Ring cameras the app works well with both cameras and alarm. Pyronix doesn't have this feature even though they do cameras, so my camera app (blue iris) is separate and not linked in anyway.
I think if you don't need police response for insurance purposes (because i don't think the police respond nowadays to automated alarms anyway) then Ring does as good a job.
To add I have also tried eufy before I got the Ring. That was ok initially, but having a popup ad every time i try to disable or enable the alarm systems annoyed me enough to get rid of it. (edited)
If the alarm is falsely triggered can I turn it off remotely?
Yes via the app. You can also see what triggered it via the device history if you've dismissed the notification on your phone
What happens with these alarm systems if someone uses a WiFi blocker? I've got a Ring doorbell that mysteriously failed to record someone breaking into a car parked right in front of it, and was advised this was most likely because the thief was using a WiFi blocker.
The alarm uses ZigBee, not WiFi. Ring cams aren't proper cameras - they're just toys imo. You're far better off with a 24/7 camera or better yet, both (Ring is good at motion events)
Tempted, but wonder how good it is without the ring subscription.
It's great. Check other threads for my feedback (and link here to help others if you don't mind)
Can you buy two of these and use them as one? I would want a number pad at the front and back door anyway.
You can. But you can buy a 2nd number pad separately. Gen 1 works with this. I've got one with more devices, so I only need a 2nd number pad. I may buy the 1st Gen Pad, I think, is only £20-25. There's no point buying 2 of these. If you need more devices, it will be more cost-effective to buy it that way and the number pad separately.
Can someone advise what it's like without subscription heard since March a lit is now paid for .. torn between this and eufy
All I want is to receive notifications of when it goes off and notifications of when a door is open
What do you actually get with this kit ? Is it 2 cameras and 2 motion detectors and 2 contact sensors and base ?
Looking at the Amazon listings:
5 piece kit = base station, key pad, range extender, motion detector, contact sensor
7 piece kit = the above plus a second motion sensor and contact sensor.
For either option you also get a camera with this deal.
