I have this monitor and it's great for office work. Be aware that you need to install software on your laptop for the auto KVM to work, which you may not be able to do if it's a work PC locked down by your IT department. Also the software is not supported on Macbook for this monitor. Manual KVM switching by pressing the button on the back of the monitor works fine though.

Also although it is "curved" it is only a slight curve and "almost" flat when compared to some of the other curved monitors out there. (edited)

Good point about the curvature - the specs says 3800R, very slight indeed. The two other 34" curved Dell UHD screens currently being discussed are both 1800R. Not that I have personal experience with anything other than a flat screen myself!

I’ve used this briefly at an office and was impressed. Already ordered the very similar S3423DWC which comes out about £45 cheaper using similar code stacks.
Does anyone have first hand experience of both ? Online comparisons generally tend to make it an IPS vs VA thing and Im not so affected by the KVM option on P34.

My Dell S3423DWC arrived this afternoon (only ordered yesterday... #Whoosh!)

Only been using it for a couple of hours, but I'm very happy.
I appreciate the IPS screen will be a sharper image, but for casual home use (Browsing, Docs, Spreadsheets, Youtube, etc all under less than ideal lighting), I'd rather have the £75 saving (£274 delivered)

I'm also replacing 2x old Dell 24" 1080p screens... and the VA panel on the cheaper monitor looks fine to my average eyes.

I completely understand when people like Dylan1357 say they 'cannot not notice' the VA Panel deficiencies, but for me, it's all relatively better than the displays I'm recently used to

I think both monitors are really good prices! (edited)

Anyone recommend a monitor arm for a 34" widescreen?
    krazykush's avatar
    krazykush
I currently have the invision arm which says it supports up to 27" but what you need to actually pay attention to is the max load it can handle... And many reviews say they've put a 34" widescreen on it and it's fine. The invision arm supports up to the 6.5kg, and I believe this 34" weighs around 6.7kg so would be fine as you can adjust the torque/tension so be stronger

The ones which are specifically stated for 34" monitors seem to cost alot more!!!

Im hoping the one i have will be just fine. Now just have to wait a few weeks for delivery to find out! (edited)

Anyone had it delivered? We're at my estimated date now and it's not arrived

Same here. New delivery date is now 15th Aug. Just cancelled it.

I went and ordered the same monitor with box.co.uk. Ended up costing me £50 more. It was the last one in stock. Really frustrated, but need a monitor that I can use with two separate computers for work. I can’t hang around much longer for deal. (edited)

Argh! Dell are so annoying. I'm looking for a 34" ultrawide for productivity but I would like USB-C and >60 Hz for a bit more smoothness moving windows around (75-100 Hz would be fine), but the choice seems to be VA panel with high refresh rate but uneven panel/corner washout or a nice IPS panel locked to 60 Hz...

Exactly what I'm looking for too. Was seriously tempted paying the extra for the Alienware oled currently viral on here, but would be a really bad choice for office work. A high refresh rate 1440p IPS is all I want!

    Just ordered. Thanks OP.

I have a Mac and a Windows machine for work. This’ll let me switch between both much more easily. With paying a bit extra for an IPS panel as I do design work and need the colour accuracy.

I had this machine for a week, connected to a iMac... the USB C port bit was awesome, however I found the image quality to be poor. Clearly I was spoilt by the quality from the iMac screen. In the end I swapped this for the U3421WE Ultrasharp version, which in my opinion is excellent. I spend most days writing code and this felt far easier on the eyes.
    Roberto_LoStorto's avatar
    Roberto_LoStorto
You mean the U3421WE is better if you use it for coding? Does it support KVM? thanks

I noticed they have removed the product page from the dell site now. Perhaps supply issues.

Lots of complains about Dell ecommerce. Absolutely rubblish. Customer's orders delayed for weeks if not months. Never again!
  21. krazykush's avatar

My order says Estimated arrival on 2nd Aug. Was originally 1st Aug. But the progress bar hasn't even moved into "In Production" yet, so not expecting it to arrive on time, but lets see. Have ordered plenty from Dell in the past and its always been bang on time. Based on the comments above, can see this one being delayed.

I ordered mine on July 11th and it's been delayed twice so far due to supply chain issues

I cancelled this after it being delayed for so long. Tried to buy it on box.co.uk - had the order despatched notification, only to then be told that the courier is unable to deliver the order, so cancelled that one as well, and finally plumped for the Philips IPS ultra wide on Amazon... (if you look at that link, you might see my review).

Returned it after a single day of use. Absolutely terrible quality panel. The screen brightness at full was about half of that of my MacBook sat alongside it. Flickering issues going from dark to light and vice versa, and horrendous colour accuracy. Went back to my Dell 1440p IPS monitor and the difference in quality was night and day.

So, I've gone back to my old monitor... maybe one day in the next year or so, I'll save a bit of money and get a really nice monitor. You get what you pay for.

Still debating whether to keep the Dell widescreen that arrived today....my dual monitor set up worked better in terms of separation as have multiple apps open at once. Screenshare on teams also seems a bit wonky where i can only share a tiny app windowor the whole widescreen panel. Not ideal. Will test for a week and see if i can grow into it. Or i may just opt for 2 x 24" 1440p displays. Choices choices.
    krazykush's avatar
    krazykush
Interesting. Ive had the same concerns throughout this purchase... That maybe my dual screen setup would be better for very much the reasons you stated. If and when my widescreen comes, I'll give it a test and sell it on if its not the right fit for me in practice

Look forward to your update in another week (edited)
