Power isn't the question you should be asking. Reliability and longevity is. Low stress engines last longer than higher stressed engines that run hotter and regular maintenance is paramount. This is a fact but likely only a concern outside warranty.

No. Power isn't the question YOU should asking.

Yes. It's only a 1.0 Engine with 3 Cylinders, but it is turbocharged, and produces a lot more power than old engines of this size used to manage.

0-60 Acceleration will feel a little slow at times, but you can still put your foot down and make good progress. And it will easily make it up to motorway speeds, keep up with the flow of traffic, and overtake.

I would always encourage you to test drive a car before you commit though. Is this not possible for you to do?

Just watched a video about the new Renault austral hybrid.
    1.2L petrol 200 bhp.

But that it pulling some weight.

You put a 3 ltr or even 2ltr engine in a clio or corsa or even a mini & they would wee all over it.

That is the trend for new engine sizes. Most new cars now are 1.5 litres max.

Like Koda says. There is a lot of difference now in performance.

However. I do remember doing 111mph in a 1.3l Fiat Uno Turbo in 1990 which would bode well 33 years later.

Lol, those things were rapid, I had a MK2 XR2 and mate had the turbo ie, he destroyed me!

You want torque for over taking this is the important factor , I don’t personally like any 1 .0 with a turbo but i suppose it’s economical

    Aspiration : Turbo + Intercooler
    Compression Ratio : 10.5
    Maximum power - Output - Horsepower : 114 HP / 116 PS / 85 kW @ 5000-5500 rpm
    Maximum torque : 147 lb-ft / 200 Nm @ 2000-3500 rpm

200 NMT is enough to overtake . (edited)

Yep, my 330D with 500lb ft can attest to that, but to put the above into context, back in the day a Golf GTI with 115bhp had lower torque and they were considered a Hot Hatch so the Q2 should be fine

I'd definitely test drive first. Some of those 3 cylinder engines make a right racket.

Personally I'd avoid any 3 cylinder, but thats just me. Like some other comments they are put under huge stress so not worth the potential trouble when the mileage gets on.

Plenty of power, They'll last around 100k without too many issues. They do like to burn oil and you do have to work them harder etc..

I'm on the same boat as well, my dad is retiring this year and he got a Passat for the last 12 years and is looking to get a small SUV (High Up) as a retirement car so he can use for another 10 years and he wants SUV or high up cars as it will be easier for him to get in and get out.
I was looking into AUDI Q2, VW TROC they all use 1.0 TSI engines and I can find 2018/2019 models with 40/45k mileage with one keeper for 15k range ( budget is around 15k).
Can anyone provide any recommendations or alternative models which is a good fit? he will be using it for local run arounds and will add roughly 5/6k mileage per year not a lot of long trips and all.
    Thanks

You could consider the 1.4 or 1.5 TSI, They return a similar MPG. (edited)
