Not knocking any of these services, they're all invaluable, but wouldn't it be great if you were interviewed for a position based on your actual merits and not your outfit.

(Lots of reply guys missing the point here, too) (edited)

I absolutely get what you're saying but I think the person being interviewed would perhaps feel better and more confident if they were going into an interview smartly dressed. It's about self esteem isn't it?

My last three interviews I wore my motorbike gear (minus the helmet) and got offered all three jobs.

You can either do the job or you can't.

couple of interviews I am to over the last few years, the interviewers were dressed unsmart so it makes you feel what's the point...and they were big companies. (edited)

They're not the ones being interviewed though? They can dress how they like within the company dress code.

You visually let them know the interview is important to you by dressing up a bit.

Hot deal and you get to keep the outfit which can be used for other life events such as weddings, funerals etc. unfortunately younger people are more in poverty than any age group. So this is a huge help for them and everyone who can benefit from it. Well done to the charities involved for this.

Timpsons had a free dry cleaning offer for the unemployed recently for a job interview outfit. Worth keeping an eye out as they seem to do it periodically

I work for large financial institutions in fairly senior roles. Since Covid I’ve just interviewed in a polo shirt and shorts and still get job offers. These services are great, but I’m not sure many people actually care if you turned up in a suit anymore. Trust your personality and skills, spend more time actually preparing for the interview ! These services tend to offer employability, interview preparation advice and prep too so can be helpful it's alll about adding personality into an outfit and interview with the help of STAR technique (edited)

The one thing I hate about interviews, is the question:

"What can you bring to the company"?

If you haven't got any of these nearby I can recommend having a look on Vinted. I think one of my suits was under £5.00 including delivery. Tried the local charity shop and they didn't have any women's suits
