These seem like a great alternative to boards especially as they make for an appealing checkerboard look, but they really don't offer much in the way of rigidity/strength. You end up trying to walk along the joins/supports for fear of going straight through the middle of one. I'm 70kgs so not heavy but they would creak and bow under my weight despite a thorough installation.

Stick with the boards would be my advice.

You could use spare tiles, separate the boards and add another two underneath in the gaps of other tiles. Should make a difference. Assuming the tiles are made of a single format of wood, looks like it.
