Same price at Costco, Thurrock bought 2 sets. £32 on Amazon, someone selling a set on eBay for £20.

It seemed in Thurrock that they were reducing some gardening items to clear. Often happens this time of year July/August to then make way for Christmas stock!!! (edited)

What other garden things were they clearing?

Looks like a good set. Fiskars scissors I've used a pair for 30 years unsharpened, always cut paper and fabric well.

I was looking for some good quality secateurs recently as a birthday present for someone, and in the process of learning about them came across people mentioning this brand isn't what it used to be as they'd moved some of their manufacturing to China and quality and design had declined in some products (whether this is the case I'm not sure as I hadn't heard of them before this but I've seen it happen to so many other previously well respected brands over the years so it wouldn't come as a surprise).

It's possible your 30 year old scissors could be much better quality than the ones they're selling now (or at least the cheaper Chinese ones they sell) if these people are correct. (edited)

seems like a bargain - would seriosuly think of buying a quantity of these to sell if I was in the area.

(OK I know that's not the spirt of this site but Costco's operating model allows for re-sale)

Your time, fuel, ebay fees, listing needs to be made in decent standard, postage and you have to sort out the package and get it dropped of or picked up. You end up working for free if that.
This is foolish and there have been way better offers to make side money.
Covid was perfect example when you could do 5-10x mark-up on Dettol and people just kept buying it

Will have a look at our local.

I thought Costco would provide discounts nationwide but it seems its warehouse specific. Some goods are also store specific. (edited)

There are nationwide discounts for sure, but each store manages its own inventory and can issue local promotions to clear stock. Usually other stores will follow suit depending upon how much stock they have on hand and how much space they need for incoming inventory.
