Zipcar to match-fund Transport for London’s scrappage scheme grant to support the ULEZ expansion with up to £1,000 driving credit for eligible members.

We’re on a mission to make cities cleaner and greener, which is why we’ve partnered with Transport for London (TfL) and the Greater London Authority (GLA) to support their expansion of London’s Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) and make it easier for people to switch from vehicle ownership to vehicle sharing.

From 29th August 2023, most of Greater London will become part of the expanded ULEZ. To make this transition as easy as possible, TfL has a scrappage scheme whereby eligible members of the public and small businesses can receive a grant when they scrap their existing non-ULEZ compliant vehicle. More details about the scheme and eligibility requirements are available on the TfL website.

Zipcar’s match-funding this up to £1,000 offer

We’re supporting the Mayor of London’s scrappage scheme by providing up to £1,000 in driving credit to the first 50 eligible members who are accepted onto TfL’s scrappage scheme. Zipcar will give you driving credit to match the scrappage scheme grant money that you spend on driving with Zipcar in 2023, up to a maximum of £1,000. This will be given in driving credit for use in 2024.

You can join Zipcar now using the link below and start driving with us. Once you’ve received your scrappage certificate from TfL simply email a copy of that to us to be added to our match-funded scheme. Any money spent on driving with Zipcar before you receive your certificate will still count towards your match-funded amount.

It's time to ditch the car and start car-sharing
Getting rid of your own car and switching to car sharing with Zipcar is one of the most impactful changes you can make to help reduce air pollution, whilst still ensuring you’ve got a car when you need it.

“I have used Zipcar for years and had a number of great experiences, but the best memory is the day I sold my own car, as due to Zipcar I no longer needed it.” Zipcar member
All Zipcar vehicles are ULEZ compliant, and we also have over 600 electric cars to choose from, with a vision to be fully electric by 2025, so you can do your bit to reduce air pollution in London every time you have to drive.

And best of all, switching to car sharing can save you money! Zipcar’s research estimates you can save up to 57% against the average cost of owning and running a vehicle in London, that’s over £3,000 per year. Helping you save even more.

Terms and Conditions: Up to £1,000 in Zipcar driving credit. Offer only open to new Zipcar members. Offer only open to the first 50 applicants who have been accepted by TfL/GLA onto their scrappage scheme, can prove this by sharing with Zipcar their certificate, and are approved Zipcar members. Up to £1,000 driving credit is for us across journeys only; violations, PCNs or any other charges are not payable via credit on this account. Up to £1,000 driving credit is based on the amount of money spent on driving with Zipcar in 2023 up to and including 31st December 2023. Driving credit applied in 2024 will be valid until 31st December 2024. Zipcar reserve the right to remove this offer at any point. Any unused credit will expire after 31st December 2024. No cash alternatives.

It’s just a marketing ploy. It’s a business so they’re just interested in the potential profit. Why else would they be supporting ULEZ?

    Ulez is a total scam.

I'm no Tory but I did find it quite impressive that they successfully campaigned against their own policy in the last local elections.

Why would anyone scrap a car worth thousands more for £1k

Not sure how old those vehicles need to be to be classed as non-ULEZ compliant but it isn’t just about the £1,000 as you would be charged for continuing to use your old car.
