When I first played this game on release, I found it a bit boring and I dunno, a bit of a slog. I had no knowledge of the Witcher universe, didn't know a thing about it. Yet I persevered and completed it thinking it was average at best.
Fast forward a year, I'd read the first two books and went back to it after it received it's quality of life patches and different menus.
I was hooked! Played through the entire campaign again with knowledge of who was who and I will stand now saying this is in the top 5 games I've ever played. I know people say the combat is sluggish, maybe it's years of playing games, but I don't find anything wrong with the combat here. It's simply, different.

Had a friend pick this up on his PS5 coming at it like I originally did. He hates it. He's never read a book or watched the TV show (which can definitely help with introducing you to the characters even if the story archs differ) I've told him to read a book and go back. The games a masterpiece with probably some of the best side quests in an open world game.

This does seem like a cracking deal.
Has anyone here played it before?

Great game, one you need to invest time in, but if you do it's as good as they get.

Makes you wonder how the hell Rockstar can justify the RDR port at £50 when there’s this masterpiece for this price.
    mcav's avatar
Exactly this. This has some serious upgrades from the PS4 version. RDR is a straight port of the PS3 game and a total rip off.

I do very much hope that it under performs. Gamers need to start to vote with their wallets even if they can afford to buy.

It's a fantastic game even if it's not your thing the quality is evident

Although there is no upgrade, I still love my Switch version. Does anyone know if the remaster is much different on the consoles?
    mcav's avatar
Sorry got that wrong, was replying in relation to RDR

The ps5 version of Witcher has some decent quality of life improvements in terms of performance, rendering resolution, draw distance, as well as improvements to lighting and shadows. (edited)

    Any good? I loved Cyberpunk

A very different game, but it's great.
Especially if you sometimes like to spend a little time wandering aimlessly in some great scenery (and encountering random things to kill) while having a break from the quests/storyline. (edited)

This is the best game I ever played and i played alot sience year 2000 but it takes a bit of time before story and game become interesting and playful. (edited)

Man I do love this game, but everytime I play it, I drop it for something else. I can't even tell you why I do it either, it is a really good RPG, I guess I'm just not ready to commit 100's of hours to it still? I will 1 day I'm sure lol.

Great game! But just wish they’d release the next one now! I’ve bought this so many times and played on a variety of consoles lol.

Why would you buy this over the PS4 GOTY edition, for £10, which has a free ps5 upgrade?
    Zwe's avatar
Same question :/ . I am very new to PS5. Does the PS5 upgrade version lack dualsense support and etc?
  14. George_N's avatar
    £13 for a new PS5 game. I'll have that

I have never, ever been able to get on with the combat in this game. It is so whiffy. One day I'll go back and try again but for now Bg3 will do 😁

A fantastic game and a really good price. Don't forget, its a separate platinum list for PS4 and PS5 so if you already have some PS4 trophies you'll have to play it again (which isn't a bad thing!)
    Jace_Phoenix's avatar
Trophies? really? do people still bother with this meaningless rubbish?

I couldn't get into this at first but I came back to the game many months later and played it up until the encounter with the first Griffin and then I was hooked. (edited)

FYI if you’re planning on bringing your standard edition save over you have to have the original game to upload it to their servers. I bought this when it was on last time and as I don’t have the standard disc anymore I could not migrate my save over. (edited)

Any reason to get this over having the PS4 version?

Ps4 gets free upgrade i believe.

Was on the fence but at this price, its madness to not experience this game for the first time!

If you’re just going to upgrade it to the DIgital PS5 version May as well just get it here: musicmagpie.co.uk/sto…ps4
    RebTheRebel's avatar
That doesn't include the DLC though, which is easily worth the extra. Blood and Wine is 60 hours of gameplay and story on its own.

Does anyone know off the top of their heads if this is the exact same as the PS4>PS5 'upgrade' if you already owned the game?
    jakethebeagles's avatar

Don’t think you get DLC as mentioned in previous comments. Don’t totally know as I’m new to PS5.
